The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Washington Street and North Grand Avenue.
Police records indicate a 2004 Toyota, operated by Sherry Humpreys had been traveling west on Washington Street when she slowed down to turn right to merge into Grand Avenue when she was struck from behind by a 2011 Chevy operated by Kenneth Juhl. The combined damage was estimated at $1,000.
Humpherys complained of neck pain and a headache, but did not seek medical attention at the time of the accident. As a result, Juhl was cited for failure to stop within the assured clear distance ahead.
The following morning, the Mt. Pleasant Police Department responded to the intersection of Grand Avenue and Mapleleaf Drive for a vehicle collision.
According to police documents, a 1996 white Chevy S-10 truck, owned and operated by Eric Carlson, of Russell, was facing south behind a van waiting at the stoplight. The van, a 2008 silver Chrysler Town and Country, owned and operated by William Stropes, of M.t Pleasant, was facing south, stopped at the four-way stoplight.
Carlson thought the van had moved forward and so moved his truck forward, striking the rear of Stropes van. Damage to the van was estimated at $2,000 and damage to the Chevy was estimated at $700.
There were no injuries. Carlson was cited for failure to stop within assured clear distance.
