The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was called to the scene of an accident on the 300 block of West Washington Street at 9:52 a.m. after a report of a two-vehicle collision.
According to police reports, a blue 1994 Jeep Cherokee, owned and operated by Jeff Chance, of Centerville, was traveling east in the 300 block of West Washington Street in the inside lane. At that time, a silver 2005 Chevy Silverado truck, owned and operated by Scott McKenzie, of Mt. Pleasant, was traveling the same direction as Chance, in the outside lane.
Chance?s vehicle slowly moved towards the Chevy truck and failed to remain in the correct lane. Chance sideswiped McKenzie. Both parties stopped and moved off the roadway.
Chance admitted fault in the collision and a witness, who was behind both vehicles, confirmed the facts.
Damage to the Jeep was estimated at $500. Damage to the Chevy was also estimated at $500. No injuries were reported and Chance was cited for failure to maintain control.
