Washington resident Carol Hoyle has quietly built a new antiquing business on Juniper Street, and it has quickly turned into an array of hidden treasures. 'Junque on Juniper” is a new business being run outside her country home.
Hoyle has a passion for antiques and says she felt the time had come to give the rest of the community a chance to come get a look at her collection.
'I've been saving and buying antiques for years and years,” Hoyle says. 'I just decided it was time to sell some of my things, make a little money, and have a little fun at the same time.”
Hoyle offers plenty of decorations, articles of clothing, jewelry and much more.
'I like vintage items,” she says. 'I like collectables. I love unique cupboards, bowls and different little pieces of furniture. I do have purses, scarves and jewelry, and things like that.”
The garage outside of Hoyle's home has a little bit of everything for guys and girls of every age.
'I hope to have a good variety that appeals to a lot of different people,” she says.
Along with items for sale, Hoyle has a little library of books for both children and adults. The library portion of the store is a free service to all.
'You can take a book or leave a book,” Hoyle says. 'I have kids books, and I have adult books, too.”
So why 'Junque” and what does it mean? Hoyle says it's just a new, hip way to describe the variation of items her new store offers.
'A lot of people sell junk, but it's not the j-u-n-k anymore,” she says. 'It's j-u-n-q-u-e. It makes it sound a little classier!”
Hoyle says she hopes Junque on Juniper will be the place to be for antiquing in the warm summer sun, but also a nice cozy place to go buy goodies when the cold rolls in.
Junque on Juniper is located at 2551 Juniper Avenue in Washington.
