The Fairfield school district is proposing traffic on Broadway Avenue in front of the high school be limited to one-way during the times students are there changing buses.
Auxiliary services director Fred McElwee is scheduled to discuss the possibility of the change with the Fairfield City Council Public Safety and Transportation Committee at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Fairfield City Hall conference room.
Superintendent Don Achelpohl explained to the board members that although they approved the initiative, it will be up to the city council whether the change actually happens.
McElwee said the plan is to have Broadway, between Maple and D streets be one-way, from east to west, for about one hour in the morning and another hour in the afternoon when students are transferring buses in front of the high school.
The main purpose for the proposed change is student safety, explained McElwee.
