On Tuesday, the Henry County Public Health Department held another COVID-19 vaccination clinic for those 65 and older. The clinic was open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for those with appointments, and those seeking their booster shots were allowed to walk in.
For every 15 minutes, there were 25 appointments, and out of the 300 appointments scheduled for the day, only three did not show up.
'It was a huge success,” Public Health Director Shelley Van Dorin said. 'We put a lot of planning into the clinic, and it turned out quite well.”
The Iowa Wesleyan University hosted the clinic in its facilities and even provided lunch to the volunteers and staff.
'If it wasn't for our wonderful volunteers, I don't think we would have been able to succeed the way we did,” Van Dorin said.
The Henry County Public Health Department will have another vaccination clinic for those 65 and older on Feb. 16 9 a.m. to noon at the First Presbyterian Church. Those on the waiting list should be expecting a call for that clinic within the week.
In addition, the Public Health Department will administer vaccination doses to New London and Mt. Pleasant school districts on the Feb. 12 as a part of the 1B tier plan.
