What is CROP: Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty, and WACO Community is involved in making a difference around the world so there can be ?enough for all.?
Each year, the Wayland, Olds, Crawfordsville and Swedesburg churches band together to work with Church World Service (CWS) organization?s CROP Drive to collect donations in the form of farm crops or cash donations to help those in the world?s most desperate situations. This year is no different.
One of the 2011 WACO CROP Drive projects is developing safe school zones in places such as East Africa. Drugs, prostitution, and kidnapping are daily foes that come against students and staff in rural schools. To insure safety from these dangers, funds will be allocated to provide security staff, quality construction and protection.
Another WACO CROP Drive project is the continuing work to help provide clean drinking water for drought, earthquake, tsunami, tornado, flood, war-torn, and impoverished countries around the world.
Following Hurricane Irene on the East Coast of our own country, Church World Service has added this as a project that will benefit from the WACO CROP Drive.
This year?s goal for the WACO area is $29,750. CROP canvassers will be calling on potential donors between Oct. 1 and Nov. 1, 2011. Immediate donations in the form of cash or farm crops can be made to them or by calling the number below.
Church World Service and WACO?s CROP Drive strive to ?Make a Difference? in the world by fulfilling their goal of ?Building a world where there?s enough for all??
