To the Editor:
We are very fortunate to have a state representative and state senator who stay involved in our area and work so well together, even though they are on opposite sides of the political arena.
In regards to their support of keeping our mental health open, there are other considerations. We have many homes for the elderly and disabled. I am certain some of these owners would bid on furnishing the space and the proper personnel to enlarge to a home for the mentally disabled. Cost would be less and the care would be greatly improved and State inspected. Our mental homes are State operated and State inspected. It makes one think of our veterans in federal care, who are federally inspected.
I will support the decisions of our qualified senator and representative. However, cost should be considered. One can stay for a week in an ?old folks home? at the same cost for one day at a State facility. Somewhere in between a lower cost and better care will prevail.
Sincerely, Robert Batey
