Ottumwa man dies in Van Buren County crash

MILTON - An Ottumwa man has died after an automobile accident in Van Buren County.
Michael Dewayne Lawson, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency personnel responded to an accident at 11:30 p.m. Friday.
According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, Lawson was driving a 2015 Chevy PC northbound on V56 when he ran the stop sign at the intersection with J40, about 3 miles north of Milton. Lawson cross the intersection and entered the north ditch, where he struck the ditch embankment.
The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Milton First Responders and the Van Buren County Ambulance Service.
