Sean Neal Delacy, 39, of Ottumwa, was sentenced on April 25, in Henry County District Court to two 10-year prison terms.
Delacy was convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor and lascivious acts with a child. Each charge is a Class C felony and carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
Henry County District Court Judge John Linn ordered the sentences to be served consecutively, meaning the sentences essentially become a 20-year sentence.
The conviction and charges were the result of a Mt. Pleasant Police Department investigation which began in the summer of 2015. The investigation, according to the Henry County Attorney?s office, determined that Delacy had illegal sexual contact with a six-year-old girl while he was living at a local motel.
Delacy previously had been convicted of third-degree sexual abuse in Mahaska County.
Henry County Attorney Darin Stater said that in a case like this, the convicted sex offender likely would be confined to prison for most of the 20-year sentence.
Stater also expressed his appreciation to Dr. Kent Metcalf for Metcalf?s assistance to law enforcement relating to the investigation and prosecution.
