Ottumwa men charged with burglary
OTTUMWA ? Local law enforcement have recovered stolen vehicles and arrested two men on burglary charges.

OTTUMWA ? Local law enforcement have recovered stolen vehicles and arrested two men on burglary charges.
On Dec. 31 at about 4 a.m., the Wapello County Sheriff?s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle in the 200 block of McCarroll in Kirkville. A red 1992 Ford pickup was taken and was recovered later in the morning in Mahaska County. Deputies also located a stolen 2000 Ford Mustang in Kirkville that was reported stolen from the Ottumwa Police Department earlier in the morning not far from where the theft of the Ford pickup occurred.
A short distance from where the 1992 Ford pickup was located in Mahaska County, a third vehicle was reported stolen, as were other items from a garage. The third vehicle was located by the Keokuk County Sheriff?s Office, and a short chase ensued.
Keokuk County Sheriff?s Office arrested Keith Hewitt, 28, of Ottumwa. Hewitt was charged with driving offenses in Keokuk County, third-degree burglary in Mahaska County and two counts of second-degree theft in Wapello County.
Daniel Fields, 26, of Ottumwa, was charged with third degree burglary in Mahaska County and two counts of second-degree theft in Wapello County.
Both Hewitt and Fields are being held in the Mahaska County Jail on $5,000 bond.
