Ottumwa teen injured in drive-by shooting

The Ottumwa Police Department reported that a 17-year-old male was injured during a drive-by shooting Sunday.

At approximately 3:13 a.m. that day, the Ottumwa Police Department received a report of a subject shot at a residence in the 800 block of Ellis Avenue in Ottumwa. Responding officers discovered a 17-year-old male that had been shot in the leg, who was then transported to the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

The initial investigation indicates the shooting was the result of a disagreement between two subjects over an illegal drug transaction. Approximately thirteen rounds from a 9mm handgun were fired from a vehicle as it passed the residence.
