OWI charge pending for wrong-way driver

WASHINGTON - An operating while intoxicated charge is pending for a woman who drove her car northbound in the southbound lane of Highway 218 and crashed into a semi.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office reported at approximately 9:11 p.m. on Wednesday, Renae Brackin of Ainsworth was driving a 2008 Jeep Liberty northbound in the southbound lanes on Highway 218. Brackin then struck a semi with no trailer head driven by Joseph Ray Harris of Gonzales, La.

Brackin was not wearing a seat belt but sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Washington County Hospital and Clinics for treatment. Her vehicle was totaled and towed by Earl's. Harris vehicle sustained front end damage and was also towed by Earls.

Charges are pending for Brackin pending DCI lab results for operating while intoxicated first offense, traveling the wrong way on a one-way and interfering with official acts.

Assisting at the scene were the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Ainsworth Fire Department, Ainsworth QRS, Washington County Ambulance and Washington Rescue.
