Packwood man arrested for assaulting two Fairfield officers

FAIRFIELD – A Packwood man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting two police officers.

Lance Lee Clark Green-Pepperdine, 28, was arrested Friday, July 18 in the 900 block of West Briggs Avenue in Fairfield. Officers had been called to the area late that afternoon because they received reports of a subject throwing rocks at passing vehicles on Grimes Avenue. Upon arriving, they discovered Green-Pepperdine, whom officers had just arrested that morning at The Lord’s Cupboard for interference with official acts, and whom they had arrested the day before for disorderly conduct at Scooter’s drive-thru.

Fairfield Police Chief David Thomas said that, when officers attempted to arrest Green-Pepperdine after the rock-throwing incident, he resisted the arrest and in the process inflicted injuries on two officers. The injuries did not require medical attention, and Thomas described them as “bruises and scrapes.”

“He got physical after being warned several times while officers tried to get him into handcuffs,” Thomas told The Union. “It was more of an issue of getting him in the squad car. He resisted the entire time.”

Thomas said that Green-Pepperdine told officers he was homeless by choice. On his financial affidavit filed after the arrest, Green-Pepperdine responds to the question “Who do you work for?” with “No job/MMA,” and added that he was sleeping on a friend’s couch.

Green-Pepperdine is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $2,000 bond, and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 29. He did not request court-appointed counsel.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
