WASHINGTON — A fundraiser pancake day for the Washington Fire Department had already brought sizable crowds to the station in Washington Wednesday morning and early afternoon, where firefighters said they tentatively hoped to raise $20,000.
As of about noon, Event Coordinator and Volunteer Firefighter Joe Redlinger said he was happy with the crowds coming in.
“We’re thankful to our donors that give us donations of food and money,” he said. “We’re very thankful for them, that they’re willing to help us out.”
The money raised will help the department update its equipment. Redlinger said the cash would also boost the local EMS service.
“This is not air-tagged for nothing special,” he said. “We hope to profit by $20,000, that’s what our goal is … I think we’re on track.”
