WASHINGTON - The Washington Volunteer Fire Department raised $11,000 from Pancake Day.
Close to 1,600 people were served during the drive-through event, according to fire department meeting minutes.
The 51st annual Pancake Day took place on Jan. 13 in a unique way. Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, the department had a drive-up dinner.
All of the money raised goes toward the fire department.
'We use it for training and equipment, stuff we use throughout the year,” Fire Chief Brendan DeLong said. 'In the past, we've raised about $8,000 after it was all said and done.”
Because of the success, the pancake committee is considering having a similar setup next year, according to meeting minutes.
