Panthers struggle against Fairfield
The Mt. Pleasant boys? and girls? tennis teams struggled against Fairfield yesterday, with the Panther boys? losing a narrow decision in Fairfield, 5-4, and girls dropping their meet at East Lake Park, 8-1.
Jack Bell and Kevin Nguyen each had a singles win for the Panthers; Bell defeated Kevin Thorn (6-2, 6-1), and Nguyen defeated Matt Barnstedt (0-6, 6-3, 10-6).

The Mt. Pleasant boys? and girls? tennis teams struggled against Fairfield yesterday, with the Panther boys? losing a narrow decision in Fairfield, 5-4, and girls dropping their meet at East Lake Park, 8-1.

?We had a lot of close matches and came out on the wrong end of too many of them in singles,? Mt. Pleasant Coach Tyler Rodgers said.
In doubles, the Panthers got wins from Caleb Zimmerman and Chase Higginbotham (6-3, 7-5) and from Bell and Zach Schmitz (6-1, 7-9, 10-8), but it wasn?t enough.
The team is now 1-2, and will play again on Monday when it travels to Holy Trinity. The meet begins at 4:30 p.m.
In the girls? meet against Fairfield, the Panthers? only win came from Taylor Beatty, who defeated Jennifer Clements, 8-3.
The Mt. Pleasant girls are now 1-3 on the season.
They will take the court again on Monday when they host Holy Trinity at East Lake Park. The meet begins at 4:30 p.m.
