The Fairfield City Council approved a street sign Monday night to restrict eastbound parking at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and D Street.
Public works director Darrel Bisgard said he received complaints from residents having difficulty maneuvering the T-intersection because of cars parked too close to the stop sign. Bisgard said city snowplows experienced similar problems.
By law, drivers cannot park within 15 feet of a stop sign. But Bisgard said residents ?keep encroaching on the 15 feet.?
Bisgard said he will place the new sign 40 feet west of the stop sign, or two car lengths, to avoid crowding at the intersection. It will read ?No parking here to corner,? and will go into effect in two days.
