WASHINGTON — Contractors have begun road patching efforts on G36, a highly traveled road linking Washington and West Chester with other communities to the north along Highway 218 like Riverside, Iowa City, North Liberty and Cedar Rapids.
Crews started work on the road — also known as 220th Street — April 30, according to a news release from the Washington County Engineer’s Office. The process is expected to finish by week’s end, weather permitting, and reduce traffic to one lane at a time in some areas during the day.
“This lane reduction is necessary in order to provide room for the contractor to remove the sections of pavement that are to be replaced,” said the news release. “While traveling through the project work area, the public is encouraged to use extra caution as the contractor’s employees and equipment will be working near the traveled way.”
The work is being completed by Midwest Contractors Inc. The Washington County Engineer’s Office encourages anyone interested to call with questions at 319-653-7731.
