Pekin baseball wins big, stops skid
MEDIAPOLIS ? The Pekin baseball team collected 14 hits and stopped a five-game slide Monday with an 11-3 win over Mediapolis.
Senior Derek Morales led the 14-hit offense with 2-for-4 hitting, a double and two RBI; and Thomas Slaney knocked in a pair of runs with a double. Tyson Lamb went 3 for 5 with an RBI, Kolby Allsup was 3 for 4 and Graham Wittrock finished 2 for 4 with a double and one RBI.

?We played like we can potentially play,? said Pekin head coach Jeff Eeling. ?That?s the team that I thought we had all along.?
Tater Clubb pitched all seven innings for Pekin, allowing one run in the bottom of the third inning and another two in the seventh. Clubb allowed four hits and eight walks, striking out nine.
Pekin wraps up the regular season with a pair of makeup games. Pekin plays at Harmony today and hosts Winfield-Mount Union Friday.
