The Panthers? first round victory over Lone Tree will only raise the expectations.
Pekin won 43-0 Wednesday in dominating fashion. The Panthers? defense was outstanding. Lone Tree was not able to complete a single pass and rushed for only 52 yards. Sophomore running back Jared Hudson, who has over 1,000 yards on the season, was only able to gain 35 on the Pekin defense.
Brody Long and Jared Bond tied for the team lead in tackles with nine each. Senior Eric Adam added eight tackles. Trenton Conger recovered a Lone Tree fumble.
Scoring early and often, the Pekin offense rolled down the field at will. Quarterback Kolby Allsup completed his only pass he had on the night to Long for a 14-yard gain. Allsup also ran for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Seven different Panthers got a chance to run the ball. Chase Copeland led all ball carriers with 16 attempts, 93 yards and one touchdown. Petie Clubb ran for 83 yards and two touchdowns.
Next up is Lisbon, who defeated Pekin in the first round of the playoffs last season.
