PACKWOOD ? A third administrator is leaving the Pekin Community School District this year.
Superintendent John Dotson turned in his resignation Monday in a meeting with the school board.
?It was a surprise,? said Ann Swanson, superintendent?s secretary, this morning. ?I wasn?t at the meeting.?
School board secretary Connie Linnet said Dotson is retiring because his service in the Iowa Public Employees Retirement System has reached the retirement requirement of the addition of age and years of service.
Dotson has been Pekin?s superintendent for three years.
The school board is meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday in the school media center to approve hiring Ray and Associates to search for a superintendent and also to discuss and approve the process to hire a middle school principal/curriculum director.
Pekin curriculum director Laurie Bennett resigned earlier and pre-kindergarten through fifth grade Principal Jeff Eeling resigned to take the principal position at Washington and Libertyville elementary schools in the Fairfield Community School District next year.
