Person of interest identified in Washington High School threat

WASHINGTON - A person of interest has been identified in the threat made against Washington High School on Tuesday.
According to a joint news release from the Washington Community School District and the Washington Police Department, a 'person of interest” has been identified following an investigation into a threat made against the high school. The name of the individual has not been released.
School faculty found a message on a bathroom stall on Tuesday, Sept. 25, about an incident that would occur the coming Friday. Due to the message, police were present at the school beginning on Wednesday with plans to stay through the end of the week.
The news release also stated 'there is no imminent threat” but that the police would 'continue to provide an extra law enforcement presence throughout the school district,” and that 'the investigation continues.”
The Washington Police and Sheriff's Officeworked alongside the Washington Community School District.
