On Nov. 18, 2025, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a scam text message received by a Henry County resident.
The message was a solicitation for money to assist Deputy Carlos Lopez with legal fees. This comes after Lopez’s request for aid with legal fees was delayed indefinitely by the Board of Supervisors.
Sheriff Rich McNamie, a longtime supporter of Lopez, wholeheartedly supports this request.
“I have supported (Lopez) through and through,” McNamie said. “I feel he was wrongly accused, and the Judge saw that.“
But neither Lopez nor the Henry County Sheriff’s Office have sent these texts.
If you have received this type of contact, report it to the Sheriff’s Office for proper documentation.
