Phyllis J. Swink, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at Great River Hospice House, in West Burlington.
Visitation will begin after noon on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., that evening. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Mike Hess officiating. ...

Phyllis J. Swink, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at Great River Hospice House, in West Burlington.
Visitation will begin after noon on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., that evening. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Mike Hess officiating. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Swink was born on Jan. 3, 1929, in Fairfield, the daughter of Samuel S. and Mary E. Elliott Perry. As a teenager, she worked at F. W. Woolworth. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1947. On April 1, 1950, she married Frank Swink.
After graduation, she began working in the office of Louden?s Manufacturing and later was employed by Faye Peterson Martin?s Drugstore, in Fairfield. She also worked for several years as a sales clerk for Panther Drug. She then worked for a period of time at Fankhauser?s Dairy and later returned to work at Panther Drug.
She attended Calvary Baptist Church.
She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments memorabilia, bowling, reading and spending time with her family.
Swink is survived by two daughters, Paula (Dave) Potter, of Olathe, Kan., and Ann (Mike) Noel, of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; six brothers; and five sisters.
