Pinney to be conference speaking chair
Dr. Michelle Pinney of The Village Vet in Birmingham has been chosen to be the equine speaking chairwoman for the Eastern Iowa Veterinary Association?s annual conference.
Pinney will arrange the speakers for the equine section of the conference, and she will be presenting a demonstration.
The Eastern Iowa Veterinary Association?s annual conference provides continuing education presentations and demonstrations for veterinarians throughout Iowa and is held at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.
QuickBooks training for businesses set
QuickBooks training for businesses will be held Feb. 14 and Feb. 21 at the Jefferson County ISU Extension Office.
Class runs from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Instructor Bryan Ziegler of the Small Business Development Center will teach participants how to: set up QuickBooks using business chart of accounts; view and understand income statements and balance sheets; reconcile check book and bank statements; make corrections; pay employees; manage invoicing and accounts receivable; manage expense and accounts payable; record depreciation expense and loan payments; use items and classes to create divisions as profit centers; use internal transfers between divisions; and export reports to Exel. Participants will use laptops to work directly with QuickBooks. Laptops will be provided.

To register for the class, call the Jefferson County Extension Office at 472-4166. Class size is limited. The cost for the two-session program is $20 for Jefferson County residents and $65 for residents outside the county.
