NEW LONDON ? A strong finish to the first half for New London turned a close contest into a lopsided one Tuesday as the host squad picked up a 55-32 victory over Maharishi School.
The visiting Pioneers (2-6) were in the game to start, trailing only 16-11 with a few minutes remaining before halftime. The Tigers rolled off 12 straight points to close the half, however, taking a 28-11 advantage into the locker room.
In the second half, New London was able to hold its lead on hot shooting from beyond the 3-point arc.
Maharishi School?s Suraj Pullapantula was equally impressive from long range, hitting 4 of 6 treys and finishing with a team-high 14 points. Surya Sawhney put in nine points along with nine rebounds, and Rashan Anderson totaled six rebounds, including five on the offensive glass, for the Pioneers.
Maharishi School?s final game before the holiday break will be at home Friday vs. Van Buren.
