Fairfield Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident at 1:11 p.m. Friday at West Grimes Avenue and North 16th Street. Fairfield Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident at 1:11 p.m. Friday at West Grimes Avenue and North 16th Street. Danny Jo Campbell, 64, of Fairfield, was driving a 2000 Dodge Caravan north on 16th Street and tried to stop at the stop sign. He was unable to stop because of ice and snow, and collided with a 1999 Fruehauf semi-tractor trailer traveling east on Grimes Avenue, driven by Gale Austin Swan, 63. The semi received no damages, the Caravan had an estimated $8,000 in damages or was totalled.
Police responded at 4:19 p.m. Friday to East Lowe Avenue and North B Street, for a two-vehicle accident. Frank A. Meade, 67, of Fairfield, was driving a 1998 Honda CR-V-LX north on North B Street, when Joshua James Hanshaw, 25, of Fairfield failed to stop at the intersection due to very little tread on the front tires of his 2004 four-door Volkswagen and the road conditions. The two vehicles collided. Hanshaw was cited for failure to maintain control. The Honda had an estimated $2,000 in damages; the VW, $1,000.
Police responded at 10:01 a.m. Saturday to a two-vehicle accident at South Third Street and West Washington Avenue. Edward Paul Hotek, 54, of Ottumwa, was driving a 2005 Dodge Dakota south on Third Street. Kathleen Grace Baker, 54, of Fairfield, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer east on Washington Avenue and not able to stop at intersection due to snow and ice, and collided with Baker. The Dakota had an estimated $3,000 in damages; the Trailblazer, $1,500.
Police responded at 5:02 p.m. Saturday for a two-vehicle accident at North 12th Street and West Burlington Avenue. Krista Marie Cline, 30, of Keosauqua, was driving a 2006 Chrysler PT-Cruiser east on Burlington Avenue. He Jiong, 48, of Fairfield, was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry north on 12th Street, tried to make a right turn on the red signal light and collided with Cline. Jiong was cited for failure to obey traffic control device. The PT-Cruiser had an estimated $2,000 in damages; the Camry, $1,000.

Police cited 26 vehicles in town for snow parking ordinance. If not moved, will be towed tonight.
