The Fairfield Police Department responded to an accident at 8:04 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Fourth Street and Jackson Avenue. The Fairfield Police Department responded to an accident at 8:04 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Fourth Street and Jackson Avenue. According to the accident report, a 2008 Toyota Corolla driven by Joyce Dianne Ward, 61, 702 S. Second St., was westbound, and Ward did not see the northbound 1999 Chrysler Concorde driven by Amber Dawn Mellot-Smith, 30, 113 Iowa Ave., when she entered the intersection where contact was made. Ward was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a yield sign. Estimated damages are $4,000 to Ward?s vehicle and $3,000 to Mellot-Smith?s vehicle.
