Fairfield Police Department responded to an accident at 7:56 a.m. Thursday at Libertyville Road and Highway 1 South. Richard F. Fairfield Police Department responded to an accident at 7:56 a.m. Thursday at Libertyville Road and Highway 1 South. Richard F. Thompson, 62, of Libertyville, was stopped at the stop sign on Libertyville Road at Highway 1, facing east, driving a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. Sara C. Adam, 18, of Fairfield, also was driving east on Libertyville Road, in a 2003 Dodge Stratus, coming up behind Thompson and failed to stop within a safe distance, colliding with the back of his vehicle. The road was reported snow covered at the time. No citations were issued, no injuries were reported. Damages were estimated at $1,000 to each vehicle.
