Fairfield Police Department responded to a vehicle accident at 1:09 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Main Street and Washington Avenue. Julie Anne Chapius, 46, of Keosauqua, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander van north on Main Street. Rita Arlene Vandersnick, 87, of Fairfield, was driving a 1991 Buick LeSabre west on East Washington Avenue and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 1. Vandersnick said she didn?t see the other vehicle and pulled into the intersection, colliding with the passenger door of the Chevrolet. The Buick has an estimated $1,500 in damages, the Chevrolet, $3,000. Vandersnick was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
Police received a report at 6 p.m. Monday of fifth-degree theft (value not exceeding $200) in the 700 block of South Third Street.

1:47 a.m. caller reported loud music/loud party. Officer advised party-goers of complaint, party dispersed.
8:58 a.m. caller from a downtown business asked to speak with an officer about an employee being harassed.
5:18 p.m. caller reported a male in a newer red SUV or truck asked caller around 3 p.m. if she wanted a ride. She didn?t take a ride, but mentioned the incident on Facebook and a friend said the male has been asking other women if they want rides.
5:59 p.m. theft of a trailer ball and hitch from a 1990 Dodge Ram reported; it?s a 1 7/8-inch ball, the ball and hitch had been locked. It is valued at $70. Caller reported being out of town Saturday when police contacted him about his dogs barking; caller suggests that may have been the time the theft happened.
6:50 p.m. caller reported kids smoking pot outside around the apartment.
7:39 p.m. parking complaint received about an RV parked in the street for an excessive amount of time. Officer contacted owner, will move RV into yard for the time being, and then out into the country. Owner was advised to ensure RV is not blocking sidewalks or view of intersection for motorists.
11:08 p.m. Jianfeng Zhang, 23, was cited for driving with no insurance.
