Police catch car burglars

WASHINGTON – Washington Police Chief Jim Lester said the department may have found the culprits in a string of car burglaries that started over the summer.
“We had an officer spot two juveniles in the act the other day, trying to get into a car,” he said. “One of those juveniles was sent to detention, the other one was released to parents, but we believe we’ve got that situation figured out.”
While that incident may have been isolated, Lester said the city had seen incidents drop off since then.
“We haven’t had any since Friday,” he said at the Dec. 7 city council meeting. “Knock on wood.”
