BREAKING NEWS: Police confirm gunshot wound in Washington

The Washington Police Department said investigation was ongoing after a 911 call Friday night alerted them to a male with a gunshot wound at the intersection of South Iowa and East Monroe in Washington just after 8 p.m.

“It was determined the shooting had occurred in a parking lot in the 600 block of West Adams,” the department said in a news release. “Anyone with information is asked to contact the Washington Police Department.”

The victim was an unidentified male who made the call, according to the news release.

“The victim was transported by the Washington County Ambulance Service to the University of Iowa Hospital with a single gunshot wound,” the release said in a news release. “There is no threat to the public at this time.”
