Police department hires two officers
The Fairfield City Council approved the employment of two new police officers Monday, bringing the 14-person department back up to 13.
Kathy Blumhagen and Jason Chalupa have been hired effective March 5.
A third new officer is in line for employment as soon as Blumhagen or Chalupa completes field training. The department is only equipped to have two in training at a time.
