Police investigate mishaps within 16 minutes of each other
Mt. Pleasant Police Department patrolmen investigated two accidents April 17 within 16 minutes of each other.
Police were dispatched to the McDonald?s parking lot at 1:14 p.m. for a collision. The investigation determined that a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, operated by Alta Pankoke, backed from a parking spot and did not see a 2006 Volkswagen, operated by Angela Benham that was behind the Pankoke vehicle.

Mt. Pleasant Police Department patrolmen investigated two accidents April 17 within 16 minutes of each other.
Police were dispatched to the McDonald?s parking lot at 1:14 p.m. for a collision. The investigation determined that a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, operated by Alta Pankoke, backed from a parking spot and did not see a 2006 Volkswagen, operated by Angela Benham that was behind the Pankoke vehicle.
The Benham vehicle struck the back of the Pankoke vehicle. There was approximately $5,000 in total damage. No injuries were reported.
At 1:30 p.m., police were summoned to the 100 block of West Washington Street for a collision. According to the accident report, a 2017 Chevrolet truck, operated by Martha Mabeus, was stopped at the red light facing north.
The Mabeus vehicle then proceeded into the intersection and struck a 2009 Toyota, operated by Bonita Vance, who was traveling eastward.
Total damage was estimated at $4,000. There were no injuries.
