Arrests
A caller Friday night at East Polk Street in Washington reported drug activity in a resident's room. An officer responded. Teresa Marie Moore, 29, of South English, was arrested on a charge of interference with official acts. Charges are pending DCI Lab results for possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A caller Saturday night at Eighth Avenue in Wellman reported that he had been assaulted. Rochelle Islyse Pierce, 32, of Wellman, was arrested on a charge of simple assault, second offense.
Marion Police Department reported that their officers were out with a subject who had a Washington County warrant, early Sunday morning at Highway 151 in Marion. Justin Allan Dennis, 26, of Washington, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for pretrial conference on original charge of unlawful possession of prescription drug. Bond was $1,000 cash only; extradition/100-mile radius. Extradition arrangements will be made with Linn County Jail.
A caller Sunday night at Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported a subject was at the residence and pulled the fire alarm and was trying to get into an apartment. Three officers responded. Paul Douglas Powell, 40, of Washington, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and interference with official acts.
Traffic accident
A caller Friday night at 275th Street and Wayland Road in Washington reported a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. One vehicle was a Chrysler Sebring. Vehicle operators were Kaye Johnson, of Wayland, and Deborah Hartman, of Washington. Damage to vehicles was more than $1,500. A state report was filed. Johnson was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway.
A caller Friday night at Highway 1 in Washington reported hitting a deer on Highway 1 south of Washington. The vehicle was drivable, and the deer was alive on the shoulder of the roadway. Two officers responded and made the deer final. The caller was advised to fill out a state accident report if the damage was more than $1,500.
A caller early Saturday morning at Sixth Street in Wellman reported that a vehicle just went into the ditch by the skating rink. Three officers responded. Earl's towed the vehicle. A citation was issued to Aidan Cole Peiffer, 19, for possession of alcohol first offense. A citation was issued to Ryan Carroll Sansen, 19, for 0.02 violation, possession of alcohol under the legal age, and failure to maintain control.
A caller Saturday morning at Highway 22 in Kalona reported coming upon an accident with no injuries. Vehicle operators were John Roetlin, of Kalona, and Tyler Brenneman, of Kalona. Drivers exchanged insurance information. Documentation was made.
A caller Sunday night at Highway 1 and Ginkgo Avenue in Brighton reported hitting a deer. The vehicle was drivable, and there were no injuries to vehicle occupants. The caller requested documentation.

An officer reported being on a vehicle stop, Friday night at Highway 92 in Washington. An additional officer also responded. Charges are pending per DCI Lab results.

A caller Friday afternoon at 180th Street in Wellman reported an unoccupied vehicle sitting in the middle of the road. An officer responded and spoke to the owner, who was in the field working. The subject was advised to move the vehicle.
A caller Friday night at Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman reported hitting a deer south of Wellman. The vehicle was added to the system and was left on the site, to be towed. The incident was documented.
Callers Saturday morning at East Main Street in Washington reported two youngsters on a four-wheeler tearing through the alley and driving on the street. Two officers checked the area and were unable to locate the juveniles. The caller called a second time, and an officer checked the area again and was unable to locate them.
A caller Saturday afternoon at East Jefferson Street in Washington reported that the subjects working on the house behind him were blocking the area where his garage access was. This was an ongoing issued that the city had already addressed to the subjects. At the time of the call, a gray car was blocking the alley. An officer responded and was unable to locate the vehicle.
Disabled vehicles
A deputy reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Friday afternoon at Ninth Avenue and Sixth Street in Wellman. The vehicle was fixed, and the subject was able to drive the vehicle home.
A caller early Sunday morning at Highway 1 in Brighton reported a broken-down vehicle. An officer advised that no one was around. The vehicle was added to the system.
A caller Sunday evening at Highway 218 in Riverside reported a disabled vehicle on the side of the road between mile markers 81 and 82 on Highway 218. An officer responded and located the vehicle in Johnson County at mile marker 84. The driver was just picking up cans on the side of the road. There were no problems.
Fire calls
A caller Saturday morning at Redwood Avenue in Wayland reported that his nephew set grass on fire and it was out of control. It was heading toward the neighbor's residence. Wayland Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
A call Saturday evening at South 12th Avenue in Washington was an error in record.
A caller Friday evening at South 12th Avenue in Washington reported a car on fire in front of a residence. Washington Fire Department responded. The fire was extinguished.
A caller Sunday morning at South Avenue B in Washington reported the fire alarm was going off in Building 3. There was also water on the floor in the exercise room. There were people still in the building. An officer, an ambulance and Washington Fire Department responded. There was no fire, just a plumbing issue.
Animal complaint
A caller Friday night at Highway 1 and 170th Street in Washington reported an animal running around on Highway 1 north of 170th Street. An officer responded and helped catch the animal. The animal's owner was advised of the situation and picked up the animal.
A caller Saturday morning at West Tyler Street in Washington reported that the neighbor's dog was being abused. She could hear it crying, and they never took it outside. An officer responded. Documentation was made.
A caller Saturday morning at West Fifth Street and West Third Street in Washington reported that his wife and his daughter were walking dogs on the Kewash Trail and for the last three days a black coon hound kept coming up onto the trail and getting more aggressive. An officer responded. A written warning was issued to Samantha Martin, of Washington, for allowing a dog to run at large. The dog was unable to get back onto the property after passing through the electric underground fence.
A caller Saturday afternoon at East Seventh Street in Washington reported an injured goose near the drive in the grass off Seventh Street. An officer responded. Dispatch contacted someone to try to assist.
A caller Sunday afternoon at Havre Lane in Washington reported that she had a stray dog in her yard that had one of her neighbor's chickens. The caller called back and advised to disregard sending anyone, and she was going to take the dog to the pound in the morning. An officer was disregarded.
A caller Sunday evening at West Madison Street and South Marion Avenue in Washington reported two Labs running in the street by McDonald's. An officer located the dogs, and the dog catcher responded and transported the dogs to the pound. Dispatch spoke with the owner of the dogs, and they were advised to contact the dog pound in the morning.
A caller Sunday evening at South Wiley Boulevard in Washington reported a vehicle in the parking lot with a dog chained to the vehicle, that kept jumping out of the vehicle. An officer responded and was unable to locate the vehicle.
A caller Sunday night at East Eighth Street and North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported four dogs running loose in the area. City units responded. The dogs were returned to their owners' residence on North Iowa Avenue.
A caller early Monday morning at Highway 1 in Washington reported that a white dog ran out at him again. It was unknown if he hit the dog. An officer called the dog owners, and they were advised that next time they would get a citation.

A caller Friday evening at South Avenue D in Washington reported the theft of medication and money from the residence. An officer responded. Documentation was made.
A caller Sunday morning at Highway 1 in Kalona reported that someone tried to break in through his front door, and was wearing a black hat and all-black clothing. The subject took off on foot southbound on Highway 1. An officer located the subject, who stated he was looking for his girlfriend. The subject was given a ride to Washington.
A caller Sunday night at East 13th Street in Washington reported that their vehicle was gone through and cash in the amount of a few dollars was missing. An officer was advised. The information was documented.
Charges filed
Charges were filed and served on Mark Allen Staley, 54, of Washington, Sunday, at Lexington Boulevard in Washington, for violation of a no-contact order. This was from an incident that occurred on Thursday/
Disorderly conduct
A caller Friday night at East Washington Street in Washington reported being in a verbal disagreement with their spouse. Two officers responded. The incident was verbal only and both parties refused to leave. They were going to stay separated inside the residence.
A caller early Saturday morning at South Sixth Street in Kalona reported that her son and her husband were intoxicated and disrespecting her. An officer responded and spoke to all parties. They were going to separate for the night. No further issues were anticipated.
Drug/narcotics violation
A caller Saturday night at North Taylor Street in Brighton reported finding drug paraphernalia while cleaning out a trailer. An officer spoke with the caller, and the item was to be disposed of.
A caller Sunday night at North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported a suspicious smell. An officer responded and spoke to the subjects in the apartment and did not smell anything.

A caller Friday morning at Fairview Drive in Wellman reported violation of a no-contact order. A report will be filed.
A caller Friday afternoon at North Second Avenue in Washington reported that her mother was locked outside of the residence after a confrontation with her sister. A juvenile female was taken by an officer to Washington County Hospital emergency room in Washington.
A caller Sunday night at 11th Street in Wellman reported a possible violation of a no-contact order. An officer contacted the caller. The caller was going to make contact with an attorney but would like documentation.
Hang-up 911 calls
A caller Saturday morning at North Sixth Avenue and East Sixth Street in Washington reported receiving three hang-up 911 calls from a cellphone that was no longer in service. An officer checked the area and made contact with a subject who advised that they were fine.
Intimidation/harassment
A caller Friday night at South Avenue B in Washington reported receiving harassing text messages. An officer responded and spoke with everyone involved. The subjects were to cease contact with the caller.
A caller Saturday night at Walnut Avenue in Riverside reported receiving harassing phone calls from her father. An officer contacted the caller and advised her to obtain a no-contact order or change her phone number.
Public service contacts
A caller Friday night at Highway 218 and 192nd Street in Ainsworth reported that a customer on Highway 218 southbound near Exit 70 had a flat tire on her Chevrolet van. Her phone was dead. The caller requested a deputy to assist with a phone call. An officer gave the subject a ride home, and Moore's towed her vehicle.
Runaways/missing person
A caller Saturday morning at North Avenue B in Washington reported that his father-in-law had a medical condition and left the residence sometime that morning on foot. Dispatch received a call that the male showed up at a residence. The original caller was advised, and an officer responded. The subject was returned to his residence.
Shoplifting
A caller early Monday morning at Highway 92 in Washington reported two shoplifters from 20 minutes earlier, at 1:30 a.m. The shoplifters were a black male and a white female, and they took a couple of bottles of liquor. An officer responded. Documentation was made for the time.
Suspicious activity
A caller Sunday night at 320th Street in Wayland reported a suspicious male at a residence, with a flashlight. It was unknown if he was trying to break into the residence. Two officers responded. This was a family member, and everything was fine.
Vandalism
A caller Saturday morning at Fifth Street in Wellman reported vandalism to her vehicle that occurred sometime the previous night. There had been an attempt to scrape off the license plate sticker, and the trunk was keyed. The caller knew of no suspects. An officer responded. Documentation was made.
A caller Saturday morning at B Avenue in Kalona reported that someone spray-painted his truck sometime during the night. There was a gray stripe down the side. An officer responded. There were no suspects. The incident was documented.
