Arrests
An officer reported being out with a wanted subject, Thursday afternoon at North Avenue C in Washington. Mary Jane Soto, 45, of Washington, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear on fourth-degree theft. Bond was $1,000 cash only.
A caller Thursday evening at Highway 92 in Washington reported a shoplifter in the store. An officer responded. Nicholas Allan Fisher, 18, of Wellman, was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree theft.
Traffic other
A caller Thursday afternoon at North Second Avenue in Washington reported a female on the hood of a vehicle traveling down the roadway. An officer stopped the vehicle at the Washington Police Department. The officer cited the driver for no valid driver's license.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported an unoccupied disabled vehicle, Thursday afternoon at Vine Avenue and 175th Street in Riverside. It was added to the system.

A caller Thursday afternoon at Elm Avenue and Highway 1 in Brighton reported a CRP fire heading toward the cornfield. Brighton Fire Department responded. The fire was extinguished.
A caller Thursday afternoon at Underwood Avenue in Crawfordsville reported a grass fire out of control. Crawfordsville Fire Department and Ainsworth Fire Department responded. The fire was extinguished.
Animal complaint
A caller Thursday morning at North Avenue C in Washington heard a dog barking in the garage, and they thought the owners were not staying at the residence. An officer responded and made contact with the owner. They had been stopping by daily and caring for the dog.
A caller Thursday morning at Wayland Road in Washington requested assistance to see if an animal had been removed from a residence. An officer responded. The dog was contained and still on the premises. The female owner advised that she was contesting the removal.
A caller Thursday morning at C Avenue in Kalona requested a tag for a fox that he had hit with his vehicle. An officer responded. The subject was given permission to have taxidermy done on the fox and donate it to the school.
Burglary
A caller Thursday night at North Taylor Street in Brighton reported wiring stolen from his shed. An officer responded. Documentation was made.
Stolen property
A caller Thursday afternoon at East Main Street in Washington reported that her bike had been stolen off her front porch. It was an older style 10-speed, pastel light green in color with a silver basket. The caller had no suspects. An officer was advised for documentation.
A caller Thursday afternoon at South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that a subject stole items from the Middle School book fair. An officer responded. A juvenile will be charged with fifth-degree theft.
Suspicious activity
A caller Thursday morning at West Washington Street in Washington reported that someone may have tried to get in their door the previous night. An officer responded. No entry was gained. Extra patrol was requested.
Truancy
A caller Thursday morning at South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that a student did not report for school that day. An officer was advised. Documentation was made.
All other offenses
A caller Thursday morning at North Second Avenue in Washington reported that a student was refusing to go to school and stated she would run away from the school if forced to go. An officer was advised, and documentation was made. The school called back about 4 ½ hours later to advised that the subject had walked away from school. Officers located the subject and transported her to her residence.
A caller Thursday morning at South Avenue B in Washington requested an officer to the school for a student out of control. Two officers responded. The student's father picked up the student.
A caller Thursday morning at East Main Street in Washington requested an officer to a residence because of an issue with a tenant's visitors. Three officers responded. The visitors left the residence and were advised that they would be charged with trespass if they returned.
