Arrests
An officer reported being at a residence checking for a subject wanted out of Washington County, Thursday afternoon at East Third Street in Washington. Matthew Tyler Entsminger, 27, of Washington, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for pretrial violation of an original charge of possession of controlled substance third or subsequent offense. Bond was $5,000 cash only in defendant's name.
A caller Thursday afternoon at South Stone in Sigourney reported locating a subject on a Washington County warrant. A Washington County officer responded with Keokuk County at the county line. Teresa Marie Moore, 29, of Keota, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for pretrial revoked original charge of possession of contraband in correctional institution. Bond was $5,000 cash only.
A caller early Friday morning at Highway 92 in Washington reported that there was a shoplifter in the store. City units responded. Ryan Dean Steinberg, 27, of Washington, was arrested on charges of fifth-degree theft, criminal trespass, and driving under suspension.
Traffic accident
A caller Thursday evening at West Madison Street and Green Meadows Drive in Washington reported a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 1. Two officers, an ambulance, Washington Rescue, and Washington Fire all responded. The ambulance transported one subject to the Washington County Hospital in Washington, arriving at 5:57 p.m. Damages amounted to more than $1,500, and a state report was filed. Bishal Shrestha, 44, of Iowa City, was cited for failure to stop at a sure and clear distance.
A caller early Friday morning at 220th Street in Ainsworth reported a car-vs.-deer accident. It was unknown whether the vehicle was drivable. An officer responded. The vehicle operator was Felicia Lynn Armstrong, of Tama. The vehicle was added to the system, and the passengers were picked up. A state accident report was given to the driver.
Traffic other
A caller Thursday morning at Highway 218 and 150th Street in Riverside reported a large chunk of tire in the northbound lanes. An officer responded and was unable to locate the tire.
A caller Thursday afternoon at Riverside Road and 230th Street in Washington reported a tan Chevrolet pickup in the ditch on the mud road. An officer responded and was unable to locate the vehicle.
Disabled vehicles
A deputy reported being out with an unoccupied disabled vehicle, Thursday afternoon at 220th Street and Riverside Road in Washington. The vehicle was added to the system.
An officer reported being out with an unoccupied disabled vehicle, early Friday morning at Highway 1 and 190th Street in Washington. The vehicle was added to the system.
Fire calls
A caller Thursday morning at Eagle Avenue in Kalona reported a barn on fire. It was unknown if anyone was there. A tractor was inside the barn. Kalona Fire, Kalona QRS, Wellman Fire, Wellman Rescue and Riverside Fire responded. The fire was extinguished.
Animal complaint
A caller Thursday afternoon at East Seventh Street in Washington reported that a carrier delivering mail was chased off the property by a loose dog. The dog was aggressive and tried to bite him. This was not the first time that had happened. An officer responded and spoke with the dog owner, who advised that his dog never left the property. He was given a verbal warning.
A caller Thursday night at 200th Street in Washington reported animals coming onto their property and was concerned that they were not getting fed. An officer responded and spoke with the owner. All but two animals were going to be taken to Paws & More. The other two animals would be taken by the owner's son.
Burglary
A caller Thursday evening at North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported a theft. An officer responded. Documentation was made.
Disorderly conduct
A caller Thursday afternoon at South Second Avenue in Washington reported two subjects fighting. Three officers responded. Everything calmed down, and parties were advised to go back to their respective properties.
A caller Thursday night at West Madison Street in Washington reported that her son was out of control. He left the residence on foot. Two officers responded. The son was located and was going to separate himself from the caller.
A caller Thursday night at East Polk Street in Washington requested assistance with a 6-year-old out of control. An officer responded and assisted.

A caller Thursday night at B Avenue in Kalona reported loud music coming from the area. An officer responded. They turned their music down.
A caller Thursday night at Fifth Street in Kalona reported that a neighbor in the apartment building was causing a disturbance. An officer responded and spoke with the neighbor, and everything was expected to be calmed down for the night.
Hang-up 911 calls
A caller reported receiving a hang-up 911 call, Thursday evening at Havre Lane in Washington. Two officers responded and were unable to locate anyone at the residence.
Search warrant
An officer reported conducting a search warrant in reference to a case, Thursday afternoon at Lexington Boulevard in Washington. The search warrant was executed.
An officer reported being out conducting a search warrant, early Friday morning at Highway 92 in Washington. Charges are pending per DCI Lab results.
Vandalism
A caller Thursday evening at South Avenue H in Washington reported that juveniles vandalized their freshly poured concrete. An officer responded. The incident was documented.
Welfare check
A caller Thursday morning at Highway 22 and Kiwi Avenue in Kalona reported two youngsters on bicycles who were in water up to their knees, at the road closing. The caller requested that a deputy check on them. An officer responded and made contact with two juveniles, who were advised to stay away from that area.
All other offenses
A caller Thursday night in North Fifth Avenue in Washington advised that someone threatened to hurt her dog. An officer responded and spoke to all parties involved. The subjects were advised to leave each other alone for the night.
