Arrests
An officer reported being out at a residence checking for a subject wanted on a Washington County warrant. Jamie Joe Nichols, 40, of Ainsworth, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine first offense. Bond was $1,000 cash or surety. The warrant was cleared from the system.
An officer reported being out with a subject wanted on a Washington County warrant, Wednesday afternoon at Melrose Avenue in Iowa City. Brooke Lexi Lucas, 20, of Ainsworth, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for possession of controlled substance – marijuana first offense. Bond was $1,000 cash or surety. A detainer was entered with Johnson County Jail. A Washington County officer responded and transported the female subject to the Washington County Jail. The warrant was cleared from the system.
Traffic accident
Kalona QRS came upon an accident while en route to a medical call and requested that Kalona Fire be paged out to assist with debris on the roadway, Wednesday morning at 540th Street and Highway 1 in Kalona. There were no injuries. Kalona Fire responded and assisted at the accident.
A caller Wednesday afternoon at Fifth Street in Kalona reported a backing accident involving a Nissan Murano and a Buick. Vehicle operators were Luann Miller, of Kalona, and Gladys Gnagey, of Kalona. Damage to vehicles amounted to less than $1,500. Drivers' information was exchanged.
Traffic other
A caller Wednesday morning at South Avenue B in Washington reported three vehicles that were improperly parked. Operators were contacted and had the vehicles removed and parked properly.
A caller Wednesday afternoon at West Washington Street in Washington reported that one of his drivers pulled through the alley, and a wire was then sitting on top of his truck. An officer responded. Alliant was also contacted.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported being out with a vehicle with its rear hatch open, early Thursday morning at North Sixth Avenue in Washington. The officer secured the door.
Fire calls
A caller Wednesday morning at Quince Avenue in Washington reported a fire. A trash barrel and skid loader were on fire. Thirty feet away were a building and a semi. Washington Fire responded, and the small fire was extinguished.
Animal complaint
A caller Wednesday morning at Highway 218 and 220th Street in Ainsworth reported a baby pig in the roadway. An Iowa State Patrol officer responded. The male caller was going to take the pig to his residence to hold until the owner made contact with the Communication Center.
A caller Wednesday afternoon at South Seventh Avenue in Washington reported being chased by a German shepherd while delivering newspapers. An officer responded and spoke with a subject at the residence, and advised them of the complaint and to have the dog on a leash if it were outside.
A caller Wednesday night at Lake Darling Road in Brighton reported an injured deer in Lake Darling Park by the beach area. An officer was unable to locate the deer.
A caller Thursday morning at Highway 218 and 192nd Street in Ainsworth reported a deer in the roadway after hitting it. An officer responded. The animal was off the roadway upon the officer's arrival.
Assault
One inmate was reportedly assaulted by another, Wednesday night at Lexington Boulevard in Washington. An officer spoke with both parties. The victim did not wish to pursue charges. There were no witnesses. The incident was documented.
Disorderly conduct
A caller Wednesday afternoon at North Sixth Avenue in Washington reported that a couple were fighting over a child. Two officers responded. The male subject allowed the female subject to take the child for a walk.
Drug/narcotics violation
A caller Wednesday morning at East Washington Street in Brighton reported receiving a drug-related item. An officer retrieved the item and had possession of it.
Family offense nonviolent
A caller Wednesday afternoon at C Avenue in Kalona reported needing assistance with her 13-year-old son. He was refusing to get into the vehicle. An officer responded. The parents and the officer spoke with the child, and the child left with the mother.
Fraud
A caller Wednesday morning at South Second Avenue in Washington requested to speak with an officer in reference to fraudulent activity. The caller and information were forwarded to the county attorney.
A caller Wednesday morning at 135th Street in Riverside reported sending $800 by wire through Walmart the previous day in reference to being named a sweepstakes winner. The caller then believed he had been scammed. An officer contacted the caller. The information was documented.
Public Service/Contacts
A caller Wednesday morning at East Main Street in Brighton requested that a deputy report to an address to advise a subject to contact University of Iowa Hospitals Emergency Room in Iowa City.
Suspicious activity
A caller early Thursday morning at Riverside Road in Riverside reported a suspicious vehicle parked by the dumpsters. An officer responded and talked to the driver, who had pulled over to send a text message.
Vandalism
A caller Wednesday evening at East Washington Street in Brighton reported that someone shot out one of the windows of his business in downtown Brighton. An officer spoke with the caller. There were no suspects. Documentation was made.
All other offenses
A caller Wednesday morning at South Second Avenue in Washington reported a male subject in the drive-thru area causing a disturbance. Two officers responded, checked the area and were unable to locate the subject. The subject was later located and advised not to return.
A caller Wednesday morning at Tulip Avenue in Riverside reported being threatened the previous evening by subjects who lived in her home. An officer spoke with the caller.
A caller Wednesday morning at Highway 22 in Riverside reported locating a license plate left in the Auto Spa. The plate had been entered as stolen. The owner was contacted, and the plate was removed from the system.
A caller Wednesday afternoon at East Main Street in Washington requested an officer to the bank to speak with a customer in reference to a fraudulent situation. An officer spoke with all parties involved. This was an ongoing situation.
A caller Wednesday night at West Adams Street in Washington reported that a male subject was knocking on her door, and she wanted him to leave. The male subject was gone upon an officer's arrival.
