Arrests
An officer reported being out at a residence checking on a wanted subject, Tuesday afternoon at North Marion Avenue in Washington. Jade Briana Thornton, 23, of Washington, was arrested on an Iowa City Police Department warrant for second-degree theft. Bond was $5,000 cash or surety. The subject was transported by an officer to the Johnson County line.
Johnson County reported being out with a subject wanted out of Washington County, Tuesday evening at Melrose Avenue in Iowa City. Kelley Suzanne Williams, 26, of Iowa City, was arrested on two Washington County warrants: one, for failure to obey traffic control device and failure to maintain control; and the other, for OWI first offense and assault on persons in certain occupations. Total bond was $2,600 cash only. A Washington County officer transported the subject to the Washington County Jail.
Davenport Police Department reported locating a subject with a Washington County warrant, early Wednesday morning at East 46th Street in Davenport. Michael James Proud, 37, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on original charge of possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine, first offense. Bond was $1,000 cash only; extradition/100-mile radius. Extradition arrangements will be made. A detainer was placed.
Traffic accident
A caller Tuesday afternoon at Highway 92 in Ainsworth reported that, sometime since 6 p.m. Monday, someone took out the front passenger side of his semi truck. The company had been notified. The caller requested documentation for insurance purposes. An officer was advised. Documentation was made.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at East Van Buren Street and South Sixth Avenue in Washington reported a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. Vehicle operators were Pamela Rae Vongpanya, of Washington, and Sara Morrison, of Washington. Morrison was cited for failure to obey upon entering a through highway. There was a minor injury, and damages amounted to more than $1,500.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Tuesday afternoon at Highway 1 in Washington. The vehicle was tagged and added to the system.
Fire calls
A caller requested Kalona Fire Department for a building fire alarm in the electrical pump room at the school, Tuesday morning at 540th Street S.W. in Kalona. Kalona Fire was paged and was requested to disregard. They were testing the alarms.
Disorderly conduct
A caller Tuesday morning at Highway 22 in Wellman reported there was a fight in the lunch room. An officer responded. A report will be filed. Charges are pending on a juvenile for disorderly conduct.
Drug/narcotics violation
A caller Tuesday morning at South Avenue B in Washington requested an officer at the school in reference to a subject possibly in possession of a controlled substance. An officer advised charges were filed on a juvenile subject for possession of controlled substance – marijuana, first offense. An additional officer advised that a juvenile subject was cited for possession of tobacco, second offense, and was suspended from school until Monday, May 6, 2019.
An officer reported being at a vehicle stop, Tuesday evening at Ginkgo Avenue and 155th Street in Wellman. An additional officer also responded. Jason Michael Thompson, of Wellman, was cited for speeding 67 mph in a 55 mph zone, no proof of insurance, and expired vehicle registration. Further charges are pending per DCI Lab results for possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The vehicle was left at the scene and added to the system.
Intimidation/harassment
A caller Tuesday morning at Larch Avenue in Washington reported that she was receiving threats from a subject after relinquishing ownership of a dog to her. An officer advised the other subject to handle this in civil court and to have no further contact with the caller.
A caller Tuesday evening at North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported that juveniles came up to him on the sidewalk and started calling him names. The caller requested to speak with an officer. An officer responded and spoke with residents in the area, and they did not know who the juveniles were. Documentation was made at that time.
Sexual assault
A caller Tuesday night at Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported suspicious activity. Information was forwarded on to the appropriate department.
Stolen property
A caller Tuesday morning at East Washington Street in Washington reported an abandoned bicycle at Goodwill for about a week. They had it at the Donations area. An officer responded. The bike was returned to the owner.
Suspicious activity
A vehicle was reported parked all afternoon in front of the business, running, Tuesday afternoon at East Washington Street in Washington. An officer made contact with the vehicle owner. The vehicle had been left running by accident. It was turned off and secured.
Trespass
A caller Tuesday morning at Highway 1 in Washington reported that his ex-wife was on the property again and was refusing to leave. An officer responded. The subject left prior to the officer's arrival. The officer spoke to her on the phone and she was advised that she did not have permission to be in the office or residence; otherwise, trespass charges would be filed. She was also not welcome on the property without permission from the caller.
Truancy
A caller Tuesday morning at South Fourth Avenue in Washington requested documentation that her daughter refused to go to school that day. The school had already been notified. An officer was advised. Documentation was made.
All other theft
A caller Tuesday afternoon at West Madison Street in Washington reported a gas drive-off of $35.44. The vehicle description was a black Buick SUV. The caller provided a license plate number, but it did not match the vehicle description. The report was documented.
A caller Tuesday evening at East Second Street in Washington reported that two packages from Amazon were stolen from the front porch. An officer responded. The incident was documented.
All other offenses
An officer Tuesday evening at North Grant Street in Crawfordsville reported that a subject was given, and signed, an eviction notice, and was still at the property. An officer spoke with the caller on the phone and advised the caller to call the civil office or the clerk of court Wednesday about that situation.
