Arrests
An officer reported being out with a subject wanted out of Washington County. Nicholas James Wayne, 28, of Washington, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for possession of controlled substance – marijuana, first offense. Bond was $500 cash only.
An officer reported being out checking on a wanted person from Henry and Black Hawk counties. Ryan James Tusing, 27, of Waterloo, was arrested on a Henry County warrant for failure to appear pretrial conference on driving under suspension, with bond at $500 cash only; and two Black Hawk County warrants for contempt drug court violation on original charges of forgery, second-degree theft and fourth-degree theft, with no bond. The subject was transported to the Henry County line by an officer.
An officer reported locating a subject who was wanted on a warrant through Washington County, Thursday afternoon at East Monroe Street in Washington. Timothy Allen Rudolph, 44, of Washington, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for controlled substance violation fourth offense, and failure to affix drug stamp second offense. Bond was $100,000 cash only.
An officer reported making a vehicle stop, Thursday night at East Hickory Street and East Sycamore Street in Riverside. An additional officer also responded. Steven Edward Reese, 69, of Riverside, was arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated, first offense, and improper rear lights. The vehicle was moved by an officer to Schnoebelen's, and the key was taken to the jail.
Traffic accident
A caller Thursday afternoon at South 15th Avenue and East Washington Street in Washington reported witnessing an accident with no injuries. Two officers responded. Damages amounted to more than $1,500, and a state accident report will be filed. Leah Machele Reed was cited for failure to stop at a safe and assured distance.
Traffic other
An officer reported two vehicles on private property, Thursday morning at South Marion Avenue in Washington. The officer spoke to the owners, who were going to have the vehicles moved.
A caller Thursday afternoon at South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported an older Cadillac that had not been moved, and it was difficult to see around it. It had Wapello County plates. An officer responded and chalked the tires and placed a 24-hour tow tag on the vehicle.
A caller Thursday afternoon at Kiwi Avenue and 260th Street in Washington reported a semi stuck on a dirt road. An officer responded and located a tow on the scene already hooked up and pulling the semi, 25 feet from the roadway. County Roads advised to let them finish pulling it out. County Roads and the officer planned to respond on Friday to check damages for pending charges. The incident was documented.
A caller Thursday evening at West Washington Street and South Avenue C in Washington reported a school bus stop-arm violation. An officer was given the information and was going to investigate.
A caller Thursday night at West Madison Street in Washington reported that someone went through their vehicle and wrote on the steering wheel. Nothing appeared to be missing. An officer responded. The caller had no suspects. The incident was documented.
Disabled vehicles
A disabled vehicle was reported, Thursday night at Highway 1 in Kalona. An officer added it to the system.
Fire calls
A caller Thursday afternoon at East Second Street in Washington reported a lawn mower on fire. Washington Fire Department responded. The fire was extinguished.
A caller Thursday night at North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that their carbon monoxide alarm had gone off several times. Washington Fire Department, a Washington County ambulance and Alliant responded.
A caller early Friday morning at 130th Street in Wellman requested that the Fire Department come and check the house for carbon monoxide. No one was in the residence. An officer, a Washington County Rescue unit and Wellman Fire responded. No carbon monoxide was detected.
DP & Q
A caller Thursday night at Ninth Avenue in Wellman reported that a neighbor was playing loud music. They had been playing it for an hour. An officer later responded because of being on another call, and the music was off upon the officer's arrival.
Intoxicated driver
A caller Thursday afternoon at Highway 22 in Riverside reported an intoxicated female subject leaving the property, walking toward a vehicle. The subject left westbound in a dark green minivan. An officer responded and was unable to locate the vehicle.
Runaways/missing person
A caller Thursday night at East Washington Street in Washington reported that her stepson had run away. An officer responded; and while he was speaking with the father, the juvenile called and was on his way home. Dispatch received a call later, reporting a juvenile sitting in front of Casey's West. Two officers responded. An officer transported the juvenile to his residence and issued a written warning to the juvenile for curfew.
Suspicious activity
An officer reported being out with a vehicle at a business, early Friday morning at Highway 1 in Washington. A subject had a flat tire and had help arriving to assist her.
Vandalism
A caller Thursday night at Ninth Avenue and First Street in Wellman reported juveniles attempting to damage property at South Park in Wellman. An officer responded and spoke with all parties. The report was unfounded.
Welfare check
A caller Thursday morning at Eighth Avenue in Wellman reported that his brother was not answering his phone. An officer checked the residence and was unable to locate the subject. The Senior Center reported he was there earlier that day. The officer checked the residence again later and located the subject. He was OK and was going to contact his brother.
All other offenses
A caller Thursday afternoon at South Avenue D in Washington reported a subject walking through a field. An officer responded and was unable to locate the subject.
A caller Thursday afternoon at East Washington Street in Washington reported a subject outside of Dollar General who was hitting himself in the head and yelling at his phone. Two officers responded. The subject was waiting for a ride to Cedar Rapids. An officer checked the area later to confirm that the subject had left, and was unable to locate the subject.
A caller Thursday evening at North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that it appeared subjects were living at dugouts at the ball diamond, because of items that had been left there. An officer responded.
A caller Thursday night at Highway 22 in Riverside reported that a subject was refusing to give them possession of the vehicle that they purchased from him. Two officers responded. The vehicle and the subject were gone upon the officers' arrival. The caller was advised that this was a civil issue.
