Arrests
An officer reported being at a vehicle stop at Second Avenue and South Sixth Street in Kalona. Shannon Dean Blake, 45, of Kalona, was arrested on charges of driving while barred, 12th offense, and no proof of insurance.
A caller Monday night at Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported that a subject popped her window open and was trespassing at the apartments. He was then pounding on the window. Joshua John Lang, 29, of Ainsworth, was arrested on a charge of trespass. Further charges are pending per DCI Lab results. The subject was also wanted by Washington County for failure to appear for mittimus on an original charge of violation of a no-contact/protective order – contempt. There was no bond; the subject must serve time. The warrant was cleared from the system.
Traffic accident
A caller Monday evening at Highway 92 in Washington reported that she struck a pole in the parking lot at Walmart with her red car, and requested an officer. There were no injuries. Walmart took photos. Insurance information was exchanged. The vehicle operator was Lisa Miller, of Wayland.
Traffic stop serious
Angela Parker, 36, of Washington, was cited Monday for possession of drug paraphernalia. This was in reference to a vehicle stop that had occurred on March 22, at Highway 92 in Washington.
Traffic other
A caller Monday afternoon at Seventh Avenue in Wellman reported that the neighbor's tree limb fell on her loaner car and she couldn't get her to respond to exchange insurance information. An officer responded. The tree owner was given a day to obtain her insurance information and get in contact with the caller.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, early Tuesday morning at Fern Cliff Road and Red Oak Avenue in Wayland. The subject ran out of fuel.
Animal complaint
A caller early Tuesday morning at Highway 1 and 170th Street in Washington reported a sow out in the middle of the roadway. An officer assisted the owner with getting it back in.
Fraud
A caller Monday morning at Paradise Drive in Washington reported a victim of a scam call in reference to a student loan. Documentation was made.
A caller Monday afternoon at North Railroad Street in Ainsworth reported receiving a fraudulent $20 bill. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.
Illegal dumping
A caller Monday morning at East Second Street in Washington reported illegal trash dumping. The owner of the trash was located and returned to clean up the mess.
Liquor law violations
A caller Monday morning at F Avenue in Kalona requested a deputy for a student in possession of alcohol. An officer responded. A juvenile is to be charged with possession of alcohol under legal age.
Search warrant
Charges were filed Monday on Brett Allen Wulf, 38, of Washington, for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance – marijuana, and possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine. This was in reference to a search warrant that occurred on Feb. 21.
Stolen property
A caller Monday afternoon at Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman believed they had a stolen gun. It was missing since sometime during the weekend. They did have a suspect. An officer spoke with the caller. It was a 9 mm. Astra with no serial number available. A report will be filed.
Suspicious activity
A caller Monday morning at Oak Street in Riverside reported that someone had spray-painted an orange arrow and the numeral 6 on the roadway. The city advised that this was nothing they had done. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation was made.
A caller Monday morning at East Main Street in Washington reported a suspicious tote by the garbage can since that morning. An officer responded. Contact was made with the owner, who was advised to retrieve it on his bike.
A caller Monday night at South Avenue B in Washington reported that someone obtained their Social Security number. This had been reported to the Federal Trade Commission, and they would like documentation. An officer was advised for documentation. The caller was provided the Call for Service number.
Vandalism
A caller Monday night at East Third Street in Washington reported that there had been more subjects on the property, and they damaged a window and a door. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.
All other theft
A caller Monday afternoon at 220th Street and Yucca Avenue in Ainsworth reported that a veteran's World War II memorial brass marker was reported taken from the Salem Cemetery northeast of Haskins. Documentation was made.
A caller Monday night at Highway 1 in Kalona reported that his John Deere riding mower was taken off a trailer out back at Kalona Tire. An officer responded. The caller was going to get the information from the business on Tuesday.
All other offenses
A caller Monday morning at East Second Street in Washington reported needing assistance while he was getting items out of the residence. An officer spoke with the caller.
A caller Monday afternoon at Seventh Avenue in Wellman reported that her neighbor was burning yard waste too close to their garage. She was told last year by the City not to do it. An officer responded and spoke with her. She was going to relocate her burn site.
Charges were filed Monday on Aaron Ezra Blodgett, 27, of Washington, for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance third and subsequent, and possession of controlled substance -- marijuana third and subsequent. This was in reference to an incident that occurred Oct. 21, 2018.
