Arrests
A caller Tuesday night at East Sixth Street in Waterloo reported having a subject in their custody who had a warrant out of Washington County. Ryan James Tusing, 27, of Waterloo, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for probation violation on original charge of OWI second offense. Bond was $5,000 cash only; pickup/200-mile radius. A detainer was placed with Black Hawk County Jail.
Traffic accident
A caller Tuesday morning at Eighth Avenue in Wellman reported a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. An officer responded. Vehicle operators were Hallie Yvonne Shay, of Wellman, and Martha Becker Yoder, of Parnell. Shay was cited for unsafe backing, accident-related. A state accident report will be filed.
A caller Tuesday evening at North Marion Avenue in Washington reported a vehicle-vs.-flowers accident outside the business. The vehicle operator was Barry Curtis Johnson, of Washington. There were no charges. A state accident report was filed. Damages amounted to more than $1,500.
Wellman Fire/QRS were requested Tuesday night at 500th Street and Blackhawk Avenue S.W. in Wellman for an unknown-injury accident. Wellman QRS, Wellman Fire, and a Wellman Rescue unit responded and were unable to locate any accident.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, early Wednesday morning at Highway 22 and Redwood Avenue in Riverside.
Animal complaint
A caller Tuesday morning at East Main Street in Washington reported a pitbull running loose in the area. An officer responded and located the owner. The owner was given a written warning for a dog at large and a citation into court for no current rabies vaccine.
Assault
A caller Tuesday afternoon at South Eighth Avenue in Washington reported that her son was assaulted by a teacher at school. An officer responded. The report is under investigation.
Family offense nonviolent
A caller Tuesday morning at South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported an argument with her mother. An officer responded. The dispute was verbal only. Subjects were calmed down.
Suspicious activity
A caller Tuesday evening at South Ella Street and East River Street in Riverside reported suspicious activity – subjects with a nearby vehicle were taking a bath in the water fountain. An officer responded. They were not taking a bath but were washing some clothing. The subjects were sent on their way.
Welfare check
A caller Tuesday afternoon at North Mechanic Street in Brighton requested a welfare check of their elderly neighbor, whom they had not seen for approximately a month. An officer responded and made contact with a family member, and he was accounted for.
An officer reported being out with a female walking northbound on Highway 218 north of G36 in Ainsworth, early Wednesday morning after receiving a report from ambulance personnel of a female walking in that area. The officer gave the subject a ride to 192nd Street, where a friend picked her up.
All other theft
A caller Tuesday morning at West Madison Street in Washington reported a gas drive-off 10 minutes earlier. The vehicle was a white Pontiac, and the license number was provided. An officer was advised and made contact with the registered owner, who was going to return and pay.
A caller Tuesday morning at North Avenue B in Washington reported that someone took items from behind the warehouse, including an antique General Electric electrical resistor and some guardrail stock along with a garbage can lid. An officer responded. Documentation was made.
A caller Tuesday morning at West Madison Street in Washington reported that someone stole two hand-carved mushroom sticks out of his vehicle. A name was carved in one of them. The information was documented.
A caller Tuesday morning at Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported obtaining title and ownership to a trailer, and had a generator missing as well as damage to the trailer including storm door damage, a broken window and drywall torn off the bedroom wall and thrown into the yard. There were no signs of forced entry. An officer was advised. The caller requested documentation only for the time being.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at North Railroad Street in Ainsworth reported that a neighbor saw subjects in a red Ford pickup take a Lawn-Boy lawn mower from the caller's property. The license plate number was provided and did not match the description given of the vehicle. An officer responded. The item had no value. Documentation only was made.
