Arrests
DCI reported an arrest from the Riverside Casino, Tuesday morning at Highway 22 in Riverside. DCI arrested Kevin Dwen Denike, 59, of Davenport, on a charge of theft second.
An officer requested a warrant entry on a subject who was in custody in Jefferson County, Tuesday afternoon at Lexington Boulevard in Washington. Timothy Daniel Fluharty, 41, of Brighton, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for controlled substance violation second offense, and possession of controlled substance third or subsequent offense. Bond was $25,000 cash only. A hold was placed with Jefferson County.
A caller Tuesday evening at Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue in Wellman reported a three-vehicle accident. They had pulled off into a parking lot. There were no injuries. An Iowa State Patrol officer will handle the state accident report. Carly Coleman-Slaubaugh, 26, of Wellman, was arrested on a charge of OWI, first offense.
An officer reported being out checking on a wanted subject, Tuesday night at North Fifth Avenue in Washington. Tony David Unternahrer, 26, of Washington, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for violation of probation. Bond was $5,000 cash only.
An officer reported stopping a vehicle, Tuesday night on Highway 92 in Ainsworth. Crystal Mirayah Fernandez, 20, of West Liberty, was arrested on a charge of driving while barred, and was given a citation for speed. The vehicle would remain at the location of the vehicle stop, and it was added to the system.
Traffic accident
A caller Tuesday morning at West Seventh Street in Washington reported that a male subject was at her door stating he had struck her parked vehicle. There were no injuries. The vehicle operator was James Wood, of Washington. Damages were under $1,500. Wood was cited for no driver's license and failure to maintain control.
Traffic other
A deputy reported being out with a vehicle stuck in the mid/ditch, Tuesday afternoon at 135th Street in Riverside. An additional officer responded for documentation purposes. The vehicle was removed.
Animal complaint
A caller Wednesday morning at Havre Lane in Washington requested assistance in locating a missing horse. An officer responded and assisted.
Animal complaint
A caller Friday morning at Highway 78 in Brighton reported a horse tied up in a round pen with no food or water, at the west end of Brighton on the north side. An officer spoke with the horse's owner, who was going to get food and water out to the horse.
A caller early Saturday morning at Highway 1 and 315th Street in Washington reported that vehicles kept swerving around a deer in the northbound lane. An officer responded and was unable to locate the deer in the roadway.
A caller Saturday morning at Highway 78 in Richland reported a horse that appeared to be malnourished and on a mud lot. An officer responded. The horse did not have any water or food and was eating grass from the other side of the fence. Two officers were unable to make contact with an owner. An officer later made contact with the horse's owner, who gave the horse food and water.
A caller Saturday afternoon at Larch Avenue in Kalona reported animals out on the roadway. An officer responded and was unable to locate any animals.
A caller Monday evening at Highway 22 in Riverside reported that a white SUV struck a dog on Highway 22 east of Kalona. The dog, a small black Lab-type dog, was still in the roadway. An officer responded. The dog owner was already aware and had moved the dog from the road.
Barking dog
A caller Friday afternoon at West Monroe Street in Washington reported a dog that barked constantly. An officer responded and attempted to speak with the owner, who was not at the residence.
A caller reported barking dogs, Monday evening at Ninth Avenue in Wellman. An officer responded. The dog owners were advised of the complaint.
Curfew/loitering/vagrancy
Two officers reported being out with three subjects in Sunset Park, early Tuesday morning at West Main Street in Washington. A report was filed and forwarded to the county attorney for pending charges.
An officer reported being out with a juvenile at the high school, early Saturday morning at South Avenue B in Washington. An additional officer also responded and transported the juvenile to the Police Department and then to his residence. The juvenile was cited for curfew, and his parents were advised.
A caller early Tuesday morning at South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported a subject trying to get into vehicles outside and in the garage. The subject was wearing all black, with a hood up. The subject was last seen walking northbound. All vehicles were locked, so the subject was not able to take anything. Officers were busy on another call. An officer was advised for documentation and extra patrol.
Civil standby
A caller Monday night at Prospect Place in Washington requested assistance with a civil standby. Two officers responded. The caller retrieved their items and requested documentation that a few items were damaged.
Burglary
A caller Friday morning at West Third Street in Washington reported an attempted break-in to her back door. The lock was broken and the key would not work. An officer responded. There was minimal damage that occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. Thursday and 7:15 a.m. Friday.
Disorderly conduct
A caller Tuesday night at Tulip Avenue in Riverside reported that his 15-year-old son was out of control. There were no injuries and no weapons. The caller requested a deputy. The juvenile was transported to Four Oaks in Iowa City in accordance with a Juvenile Probation officer's request.
DP & Q
A caller Saturday night at South Marion Avenue in Washington reported loud music coming from a house on Marion Avenue. An officer responded and spoke with the owner, who advised that he would turn down the music.
A caller Monday night at West Adams Street in Washington reported that their neighbors were being loud. An officer responded and advised them of the complaint. They were going to keep it down.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Friday afternoon at Highway 218 and the Highway 92 ramp in Ainsworth. The vehicle was tagged and added to the system.
An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Friday afternoon at Highway 1 and Highway 92 in Washington. The subject was fine and had just pulled over for a minute.
An officer reported being out with a possible disabled vehicle, early Saturday morning at 133rd Street and Highway 1 in Kalona. Everything was fine. They were bringing gas to another vehicle that ran out of gas.
An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, early Sunday morning at Highway 22 and Redwood Avenue in Riverside. Everything was fine, and they were on their way.
An officer reported a disabled vehicle, Sunday morning at the Highway 218 southbound off-ramp Exit 70 in Ainsworth. The subject was tired and had pulled over. He would be on his way shortly.

Runaways/missing person
A caller Friday afternoon at 12th Place in Kalona reported that a juvenile did not return home. An officer was disregarded. The juvenile was located, and there were no problems.
Public intoxication
A caller Monday night at Riverside Road in Riverside reported that there was a subject in the business who was acting strange. The caller requested that a deputy do a walk-through. An officer responded and spoke with the subject. He would be walking away from the property.
Fire calls
A caller Monday night at Ninth Avenue and Second Street in Wellman reported a strong anhydrous ammonia smell in the area. Wellman Fire Department and Wellman QRS responded. Several small leaks were located at the Wellman Farm Center. Dispatch attempted to call multiple key holders for the business, but was unable to make contact. Wellman Fire got all located leaks shut off.
Suspicious activity
A caller early Wednesday morning at South Avenue B in Washington reported that he believed someone was outside his residence because his dogs were barking in the backyard. The caller was driving around in his Ford Ranger until the officers arrived. City units responded and checked the area and were unable to locate anyone.
Weapons violation
A caller Friday afternoon at East Washington Street in Washington reported that someone donated items that they were not able to take in the store. An officer responded and seized the items.
Welfare check
A caller Saturday night at Tulip Avenue in Riverside requested a welfare check for a subject who posted something concerning on Facebook. Three officers responded. The subject was OK. The Facebook message was read incorrectly.
A caller Sunday morning at North Greene Street in Riverside requested a welfare check of her children. An officer responded. Everything was fine.
A caller Sunday night at D Avenue in Kalona requested a welfare check on a subject who did not show up to work that day. An officer responded, and the subject was accounted for. There was a scheduling problem.
A caller Monday afternoon at Highway 1 and West Fifth Street in Washington reported four young children on bikes who were unattended. They were about three-fourths of a mile east of Highway 1 and traveling westbound on the Kewash Trail. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the subjects.
Vandalism
A caller early Wednesday morning at Coppock Road in Washington reported that his hot tub was vandalized while he was gone, and requested to speak with a deputy. An officer responded. The caller advised it was a family member who did the damage, and he would handle it himself.
All other offenses
A caller Tuesday morning at East Tyler Street in Washington reported a white male subject walking on East Tyler Street completely naked. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.
A caller Tuesday morning at South Avenue B in Washington requested an officer at the school. A report will be filed. A juvenile was charged with carrying weapons on school grounds (a Class D felony) and possession of stolen property fourth (a serious misdemeanor).
