Arrests
An officer reported stopping a vehicle on Johnson Washington Road near 540th Street Southwest in Wellman, Monday night. Ezra Glen Schrock, 58, of Wellman, was arrested on charges of OWI first offense, open container, and speeding 68 mph in a 55-mph zone. An additional officer assisted. The vehicle was left at the residence.
Traffic accident
A caller Monday afternoon at North Rose Street in Riverside reported that a vehicle was hit overnight. There was damage to the front left tire wheel and to the door. An officer responded. There were no suspects. Documentation was made for insurance purposes.
A caller Monday night at 282nd Street and Highway 218 in Crawfordsville reported a one-motorcycle accident. The subject was in the field, unconscious but breathing. An ambulance, two officers, and Crawfordsville QRS and Fire responded. A Washington County Rescue unit was en route but was disregarded. The ambulance transported the subject to University of Iowa Hospitals, arriving at 8:24 p.m. Moore's Towing responded and towed the motorcycle. A state accident report will be filed.
Traffic other
A caller Monday afternoon at Sockum Ridge Road in Washington reported that an older teal-green truck with no license plates was sitting east of his driveway, unoccupied. The vehicle was loaded with items in the back, and also had tools in the front seat. An officer responded. The owner showed up with a trailer to move the vehicle.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported being out with a disabled motorcycle, Monday night at Highway 1 in Washington. The motorcycle was tagged and added to the system.
Fire calls
A caller Monday afternoon at North Avenue C in Washington reported that a garage was on fire, fully engulfed. The garage was attached to the house. The fire was contained to the garage. Three officers, an ambulance, Washington Fire, Ainsworth Fire, and Alliant Energy responded. The fire was extinguished.
Animal complaint
A caller Monday morning at South Third Avenue in Washington requested that an officer check the welfare of a guinea pig that was always left outside. An officer responded. Everything was fine.
Assault
A caller Monday morning at Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported that the woman next door was assaulting her children over a phone issue. An officer responded. The children were fine, and everyone was counseled on their behavior. No further issues were expected.
A third-party caller Monday morning at E Place in Kalona reported a domestic situation that was physical. Two officers responded. The parties separated for the next few days. The altercation was physical, but it was unknown who the aggressor was. The incident was documented.
Civil standby
A civil standby was reported, Monday afternoon at C Avenue in Kalona. An officer responded. The civil standby was completed.
Curfew/loitering/vagrancy
A caller early Tuesday morning at East Washington Street in Washington reported that a juvenile subject was sitting in front of the theater. An officer responded and transported the juvenile to the Police Department and then to the residence, where contact was made with the parents. The officer issued a citation to the juvenile for curfew.
Disorderly conduct
A caller Monday morning at Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported that her 4-year-old granddaughter was screaming and out of control. The caller requested an officer. An officer responded. The juvenile calmed down.
Intoxicated driver
A caller Monday night at Sixth Street in Kalona reported a possibly intoxicated driver at the pumps. The vehicle left eastbound. An officer was advised.
Motor vehicle theft
A caller Monday morning at South Harrison Street in Brighton reported that a 2008 Chrysler Town Van was stolen between 11 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 a.m. Monday. An officer responded. The vehicle was entered into the system. A wallet containing a driver's license was inside the vehicle, and the driver's license was entered into the system. A report was going to be filed. Later on Monday the stolen vehicle and the driver's license entries were both cleared from the system.
A caller Monday morning at West Grimes Avenue in Fairfield reported locating a stolen vehicle from Washington County. A Washington County officer was advised. The stolen vehicle entry was cleared from the system.
Trespass
A caller Monday afternoon at Highway 1 in Kalona reported that a subject's dogs were trespassing on the property. An officer spoke to the caller, and located the dog owner, who was advised of the complaint.
A caller Monday afternoon at Vine Avenue in Riverside reported that a subject on a four-wheeler was trespassing and tearing up his land. An officer spoke to the caller, and he was going to make contact with the juvenile and the parents. The officer responded to the juvenile's residence and advised his mother to tell him to stay off the property. Documentation was made.
A caller Monday night at North Grant Street in Crawfordsville reported that a subject was possibly inside her residence. Two officers checked the residence. The complaint was unfounded.
All other offenses
A caller Monday night at West Monroe Street in Washington reported that she believed someone damaged her vehicle. It was running fine earlier, and it wouldn't at the time of the call. An officer responded. The report was documented.
