Arrests
An officer reported having a warrant for a subject who was currently in Oakdale, Tuesday afternoon at Lexington Boulevard in Washington. A warrant was entered and a detainer placed with Oakdale. Carl Tucker Gemberling, 42, of Burlington, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct. Bond was $300 cash only.
A deputy requested a warrant entry and arrest for a subject currently in the Polk County Jail, Tuesday night at West Main Street in Washington. Deng Michael Akuar, 27, of Des Moines, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for disorderly conduct fighting or violent behavior. Bond was $300 cash only. A detainer was placed with Polk County.
Traffic other
A caller Tuesday afternoon reported that there were numerous vehicles on one block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington that had been parked there for at least a week and a half. An officer chalked tires on all vehicles and placed a 24-hour tow tag on one of the vehicles. The officer planned to check back on them on Wednesday.
A caller Tuesday night at Wayland Road in Washington reported a vehicle traveling with a young child on the driver's lap and other children in the vehicle without car seats. An officer responded. The driver's husband was advised of the complaint.
A caller Tuesday night at E Avenue in Kalona reported a possible drunk driver parked at Casey's in Kalona. The vehicle was driven from Casey's to the Sales Barn in Kalona. Two officers responded. The driver was OK and would be staying parked there overnight for work the next day.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported being out with a disabled semi by Auto Zone, Tuesday morning at West Madison Street in Washington. The vehicle operator was waiting for a part, and then it would be moved.
A deputy reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Tuesday afternoon at Highway 1 and 170th Street in Washington. The officer tagged the vehicle and added it to the system.
Fire calls
It was documented that a report would be filed, Tuesday afternoon, in reference to a structure fire that occurred Saturday at North Avenue C in Washington.
Civil standby
A caller Tuesday afternoon at East Third Street in Washington requested a civil standby to get his belongings from his house. An officer responded and assisted the subjects.
Disorderly conduct
A caller Tuesday night at South Marion Avenue and West Main Street in Washington reported that subjects tried to attack their brother. Two officers responded. The argument was verbal only. City units were going to attempt to locate the other party to speak to them.
Fraud
A caller Tuesday afternoon at Juniper Avenue in Washington reported a scam on Facebook. A male subject then had a copy of her driver's license. The caller requested to speak with a deputy. An officer attempted to contact the caller, but they did not answer their phone.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at C Avenue in Kalona reported that he was out $400 in a Social Security scam. It was sent via MoneyGram and claimed. The caller requested to speak with a deputy. Documentation was made.
Intimidation/
harassment
A caller Tuesday afternoon at North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that an adult female threatened her granddaughter with a Taser while at North Park in Washington. An officer spoke with the caller and had been unable to locate the other party. The information was documented.
A caller Tuesday night at North Avenue C in Washington reported receiving harassment from an unknown subject through his cellphone. An officer responded and spoke to the subject. The information was documented.
Suspicious activity
A caller Tuesday morning at East Third Street in Washington reported that a car stopped in front of her residence and subjects took pictures of their house and the pallet recycling business next door. An officer responded and spoke to all parties involved. Subjects were only taking selfies for social media.

Trespass
A caller Tuesday afternoon at Highway 92 in Washington requested an officer to ban a subject from the property. An officer responded and advised the subject that he was not to be on the premises. Documentation was made.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at East Third Street in Washington reported two juveniles sneaking onto the property. An officer responded and was unable to locate the juvenile subjects.
A caller Tuesday night at North Avenue C in Washington reported that a construction crew was at her house to clean up the garage, which was still under investigation from a previous fire. Two officers responded and spoke to all parties involved. The fire marshal advised that the case was closed and the landlord was clear to board up the windows. The landlord had given the caller 10 days to be out of the house.
Vandalism
Clarification from an officer was requested on whether charges or citation were called for, Tuesday night at E Avenue in Kalona. A caller reported that a subject kicked her car. The officer responded and spoke to all parties involved. Charges are pending for assault and criminal mischief.
All other theft
A caller Tuesday afternoon at North Van Buren Street in Brighton reported that an employee who worked at an area store stole $15 that was to be cash back, from a customer's debit card. The caller requested to speak with a deputy. The customer did not wash to pursue charges. The caller already gave the customer his money back.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at East Madison Street in Washington requested to speak to an officer about a possible stolen piece of mail. They were currently at the post office. An officer responded. The post office was going to handle the incident, and no items were missing.
All other offenses
A caller Tuesday evening at West Adams Street in Washington reported that a male came to their door asking for a female they did not know. The male might have had a weapon. He left the area on foot. Two officers checked the area and were unable to locate the subject.
