Arrests
An officer reported being on a vehicle stop, Tuesday morning at 220th Street in Washington. Glenntavius Montrell Nolan, 30, of Fairfield, was arrested on charges of driving under revocation and speed. The vehicle was left on the shoulder and added to the system.
A caller Tuesday morning at Highway 92 in Washington reported a potential shoplifter in the store. Two officers responded. Michael James Proud, 37, of Clinton, was arrested on charges of possession of controlled substance and trespass.
A caller Tuesday night at First Street in Wellman reported a domestic situation at a residence in Wellman. It was unknown whether it was verbal or physical. Two officers responded. Isaias Mendoza Jr., 28, of Wellman, was arrested on a charge of domestic abuse assault causing injury, first offense.
Traffic accident
A caller Tuesday afternoon at Highway 22 and Orange Avenue in Kalona reported an incident that occurred on Saturday. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at 10th Street and E Avenue in Kalona reported she was involved in a two-vehicle accident with no injuries at the entrance to the Kalona Park on Highway 22. She was driving a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville, and the driveway to the park was blocked. Vehicle operators were Samantha Lycke, of Kalona, and Karma Bailey, of Kalona. Damages to the vehicles amounted to less than $1,500. Drivers' information was exchanged.
A caller Tuesday night at Highway 78 and 335th Street in Brighton reported hitting a deer. There were no injuries to vehicle occupants, and the vehicle was drivable. The caller was unsure if the deer was off the roadway. An officer responded and was unable to locate the deer. The accident was documented.
Traffic other
A caller Tuesday afternoon at East Jackson Street in Washington reported that a white SUV had been sitting across the street from her residence since the previous Friday when the students got out of school. The owner of the vehicle advised a neighbor that it broke down and would be there until Wednesday. An officer planned to check back then.
A caller Tuesday night at Sixth Avenue and 13th Street in Wellman reported that a vehicle was parked the wrong way and had not been moved for three or four days. An officer responded. The vehicle was parked in the correct direction. The tires were chalked.
Animal complaint
A caller Tuesday morning at 190th Street and Ginkgo Avenue in West Chester reported a deer that was injured on the side of the road. An officer responded and was unable to locate the deer.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at 180th Street in Ainsworth reported animal neglect at a residence. Two dogs were penned up, cats were in the shop and an opossum was also in the shop, living in their own feces. An officer responded. All animals were very well taken care of. The opossum got in and they had not been able to get it out of the machine shed. The complaint was unfounded.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at South Third Avenue in Washington reported a loose pitbull, brindle-colored with a white face, in the area. It possibly belonged to a neighbor. An officer responded and made contact with the neighbor. The dog did not belong to them. The officer located the dog at South Fourth Avenue and East Jackson, and it was picked up by the dog catcher. The owner later called Dispatch and was advised to contact the dog pound.
A caller Tuesday night at Joy Avenue in Richland reported that a pitbull was loose and aggressive toward him. An officer responded. Karey Ann Greiner, 41, of Rubio, was cited for allowing a dog to run at large, with a court date of April 18.
Burglary
A caller Tuesday night at South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported that someone stole a bag of tools from their garage. There was no forced entry and no known suspects. The item was a black Hyper Tough bag with miscellaneous tools. The caller requested documentation only. An officer was advised for documentation.
Fraud
A caller Tuesday afternoon at Highway 92 in Washington reported that a male subject was just in the store trying to pass $140 worth of fake $20 bills. The subject was gone, but they still had the money. The caller requested an officer. A report will be filed.
Illegal dumping
A caller Tuesday evening at Foster Woods Road in Wellman reported illegal dumping. An officer responded and located one picture frame and a stuffed dog. The officer removed both items from the ditch.
Intimidation/harassment
A caller Tuesday morning at South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported receiving threatening messages from an unknown subject. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation only was made.
Runaways/missing person
A caller Tuesday night at North Avenue C in Washington reported that their juvenile son left the residence at 9 a.m. that day and did not return. An officer checked a residence and was unable to locate the subject. About 20 minutes later, at 9 p.m., the caller reported that the juvenile returned home.
Suspicious activity
A caller Tuesday afternoon at West Washington Street in Washington reported that there were two male subjects in the bathroom at the library, possibly washing up in the sink. The caller requested that an officer walk through. An officer responded. There was no problem.
All other theft
A caller Tuesday afternoon at A Avenue in Kalona reported that the neighbor youngsters kept coming onto the caller's property and taking items that didn't belong to them. The caller requested a deputy. An officer spoke with the kids from the other trailers, who were advised to leave it alone if it didn't belong to them. The problem was resolved for the time being.
A caller Tuesday night at East Third Street in Washington reported that their cellphone was stolen. An officer responded, and the caller would not answer the door or their contact numbers. Documentation was made.
All other offenses
A caller Tuesday afternoon at 115th Street in Riverside reported locating a 2-year-old out in the roadway with no clothing on and no adults around. The caller was taking the child into her residence, as the child was cold. An officer responded and requested medical personnel to evaluate the child. Riverside QRS and an ambulance responded. The ambulance transported the subject to the University Hospitals, arriving at 6:03 p.m. The officer would be forwarding this on to the appropriate department. DHS was contacted, and a report will be filed.
