A caller Tuesday morning at East Seventh Street in Washington reported that a male subject just hit her parked vehicle. He was in a Chevrolet Malibu. There were no injuries. An officer responded. Moore's responded and towed the vehicle, to be released upon payment of the tow bill. Timothy Arnold Thompson, 36, of Washington, was arrested on charges of OWI first offense, failure to maintain control, and no proof of insurance accident-related. An officer will file a state accident report.
A caller Tuesday morning at North Second Avenue in Washington reported an incident involving another male subject. Dispatch lost connection with the caller. Four officers responded. Cody Lynn Stockstell, 27, of Washington, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine first offense, unlawful possession of prescription drug, possession of a controlled substance – marijuana first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was $1,300 cash or surety. The warrant was cleared from the system.
An officer Tuesday night at South Seventh Avenue in Washington reported being out with a subject wanted out of Washington County. Brandon James Ferdig, 21, of Washington, was arrested on three Washington County warrants: the first, for third-degree theft and trespass, third offense; the second, for failure to appear for initial on driving while license denied, suspended, canceled or revoked; and the third, for failure to appear for pretrial on third-degree theft. Bond was $5,300 cash only. The subject was also wanted out of Henry County. Holding arrangements will be made
Traffic accident
A caller Tuesday morning at West Madison Street in Washington reported that two vans struck each other at the corner of Madison and Highway 1. There were no injuries. Vehicle operators were Lisa Waddell, of Wellman, and Erin Martin, of Washington. Damage to vehicles accounted to more than $1,500. A state accident report will be filed. Martin was cited for failure to yield upon left-hand turn.
A caller Tuesday morning at First Street in Kalona reported that a subject damaged her vehicle while it was parked at a business in Kalona. The vehicle operator was Jeff Covington, of Ainsworth. Vehicle damage was minimal. Information was exchanged.
Traffic stop serious
An officer reported being out with a vehicle, Tuesday afternoon at North Van Buren Street in Brighton. Clayton Joe Kuntz, 24, of Ft. Madison, was cited for driving while license suspended, third offense.
Traffic other
A caller Tuesday afternoon at East Jefferson Street in Washington reported that his neighbor's green Dually pickup was parked blocking the alley again. The caller requested an officer. An officer spoke with the owner of the truck, who was going to move the vehicle. They were working on a house in the area and could not park out front.
Disabled vehicles
A caller Tuesday afternoon reported that a trailer at 290th Street and Coppock Road in Washington appeared to have been left there. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the trailer.
Fire calls
A caller Tuesday afternoon at Spruce Avenue in Washington reported that the garbage was on fire, and the fire was then going into the field. There were no structures nearby. Washington Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
A caller Wednesday morning at Enterprise Drive in Riverside reported a fuel spill. There were no running vehicles by the spill. Riverside Fire Department responded.
Animal complaint
A caller Tuesday morning at Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported two large brown dogs running around the HACAP area. One appeared to have a broken electric collar. An officer responded. The dog catcher responded and took both dogs to the shelter. The owner called in and was advised that her dogs were at the shelter.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported that the neighbor's dogs had been coming into their yard. An officer responded and cited Lourie Jo Tower, of Centerville, for allowing dogs to run at large.
A caller Tuesday night at 240th Street in Washington reported loose dogs on his property. The dogs were seen on the property on multiple days this month. They were a Doberman with a red collar and a mixed-breed dog. An officer responded. A citation was issued to Ruth Ann Dawson, 54, of Washington, for allowing a dog to run at large.
Burglary
A caller Tuesday evening at East Seventh Street in Washington reported that the former button factory was broken into. An officer spoke to the caller. He was going to make a list of items that were missing. Documentation was made for the time being.
Disorderly conduct
A caller Tuesday evening at West Second Street and North Avenue C in Washington reported that a juvenile subject had taken his ankle bracelet off and thrown it into their yard. An officer responded and spoke to all parties involved. The juvenile subject was to stay at his mother's house for the night.
Hang-up 911 calls
Dispatch reported a 911 open-line call and could hear youngsters in the background. An officer responded. Everything was fine.
Intimidation/harassment
A caller Tuesday night at South Third Avenue in Washington reported receiving threatening messages over social media. An officer spoke with the caller and discussed blocking the subject on social media. The incident was documented.
Runaways/missing person
A caller Tuesday morning at South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that a student left the building instead of going to her ride. She left out the back door of the school approximately 20 minutes earlier, at 11:19 a.m. The caller gave a description of the juvenile's apparel. An officer spoke with the family, who had not seen her. The officer located the juvenile and transported her to the Police Department. She was picked up by the transport service and returned to Agency.
A caller Tuesday evening at Highway 22 in Wellman requested assistance with locating their juvenile who did not return home from school at the Mid-Prairie High School. An officer was able to locate the juvenile at the Riverside Travel Mart. The officer transported her to Pleasantview in Kalona, where she was turned over to her mother.
A caller Tuesday night at East 14th Street in Washington reported a juvenile who was not coming home. An officer responded. The juvenile was returning home. There were no issues.
A caller Tuesday night at East Madison Street in Washington reported that her son did not come home from school. An officer was advised, and officers were going to attempt to locate the juvenile. The juvenile was entered into the system as missing.
Sexual assault
A caller Tuesday afternoon at C Avenue in Kalona requested to speak to a deputy to report an assault. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation was made at the time, and the officer was going to forward the information to the appropriate department.
Suspicious activity
A caller Tuesday evening at North Marion Avenue in Washington reported a blue SUV parked by his garage. It was unknown if anyone was around. Two officers responded. Subjects were family members. There were no issues.
A caller Tuesday night at F Avenue in Kalona reported finding the doors to their empty house wide open. No items were missing, and there was no damage to the property. Documentation only was made.
A caller early Wednesday morning at North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported that an elderly male wearing pajamas was outside and was trying to get into his house. Two officers responded. Contact was made with his family, who returned him home.
Trespass
An officer reported being out at a residence in reference to a trespass complaint, Tuesday evening at West Washington Street in Washington. An officer left a message for both parents of the juveniles about the complaint.
Welfare check
A caller Tuesday afternoon at Highway 218 and 220th Street in Ainsworth requested a welfare check on a male subject in an Oldsmobile with a handicap sticker just off Highway 218 on G36. It was unknown if he was just sleeping. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the vehicle.
All other theft
A caller Tuesday night at St. Marys Street in Riverside reported two juveniles taking traffic cones from the street. An officer responded and was unable to locate the vehicle. The report was documented.
All other offenses
A caller Tuesday morning at South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that a student walked away from the school. An officer responded and spoke with school personnel. Documentation only was made.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at West Madison Street in Washington stated that two juveniles in a restaurant should be in school. Two officers responded. The male juvenile was transported to his residence. The female juvenile had an excuse from school.
A caller Tuesday night at East Second Street in Washington reported hearing loud yelling coming from a nearby residence. Two officers responded and spoke to the subjects. The argument was verbal only, and the female subject would be staying with a neighbor for the night.
A caller Tuesday night at 11th Street in Wellman reported a violation of a no-contact order. An officer spoke to the caller. Documentation was made at the time.
