Arrests
A caller Sunday morning at 220th Street and Underwood Avenue in Ainsworth reported a male subject who was running around wearing only shorts. A vehicle was parked in the field entrance to the north. An officer responded. Kevin Patrick McCormick, 55, of Ainsworth, was arrested on charges of public intoxication and OWI second offense.
An officer reported being out on a traffic stop with a subject wanted out of Washington County, Sunday night at North Avenue D in Washington. An additional officer also responded. Nichalous Dwayne Luke, 35, of Washington, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for contempt hearing on original charge of failure to pay child support. Bond was $1,000 cash only. The subject was also charged with driving under suspension.
Traffic accident
A caller Friday afternoon at 320th Street and Nutmeg Avenue in Washington reported that they rolled a vehicle. All occupants were refusing medical attention. The caller requested a deputy. Damages to the vehicle amounted to more than $1,500. A state accident report will be filed. A citation was issued to Karl Tisor, of Washington, for failure to maintain control. The vehicle was towed to the registered owner's residence by Moore's.
A caller Friday night at Highway 218 and the Highway 92 ramp in Ainsworth reported hitting a deer southbound on Highway 218 just south of Ainsworth. Two vehicles hit three deer. An Iowa State Patrol officer handled any report needed.
An officer reported being out with a vehicle that appeared to have hit a deer, early Saturday morning at Riverside Road in Washington. The vehicle was unoccupied and was added to the system. Documentation was made.
A caller Saturday night at Highway 218 in Riverside reported that a customer came into the store reporting they hit a deer. The caller spoke with the customer, who advised that he believed the vehicle would be drivable, and was not sure if the deer was still in the roadway. An officer responded. The subject was given a state accident report to fill out. The officer was unable to locate the deer.
A caller Sunday night at Highway 1 in Washington reported two cars hitting multiple deer, with one deer still alive. A conservation officer responded and filed a state accident report for one of the vehicles. Damages to the other vehicle were documented. The animals were made final.
Traffic stop serious
An officer reported being at a vehicle stop after getting a report of a vehicle tearing up 230th Street, Saturday night at Lexington Boulevard and 230th Street in Washington. Brandon Lee Davis, of Washington, was cited into court for improper use of county roads.
Traffic other
A caller Saturday night at 230th Street and Juniper Avenue in West Chester reported two trucks tearing up the road. An officer responded and conducted a traffic stop with one of the vehicles.
A caller early Sunday morning at North Hamilton Street in Keota reported backing into a tree, causing the window to break. Documentation was made.
A caller Sunday morning at East 15th Street in Washington reported a metal fence in the eastbound lane. An officer responded and removed the metal.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported being out with an unoccupied disabled vehicle, Sunday afternoon at Dogwood Avenue and Highway 22 in Wellman. The vehicle was tagged and added to the system.
A deputy reported being out with an unoccupied disabled vehicle, early Monday morning at Spruce Avenue and Highway 92 in Washington. The vehicle was added to the system.
Fire calls
Dispatch received a report of a CO2 detector going off at East Second Street in Washington, Friday night. Washington Fire Department responded.
A caller Friday night at Underwood Avenue in Ainsworth reported that The Shack in Ainsworth might be on fire. An officer responded and disregarded Ainsworth Fire and QRS. It was a bonfire that was contained.
A caller Saturday morning at First Avenue in Wellman reported a fire alarm at their business. The Wellman Fire Department and a Washington County officer responded. There was no fire present. The power outage set the alarm off.
A caller Saturday night at East Fourth Street in Washington reported an active structure fire. Washington Fire, Ainsworth Fire, two Washington County ambulances, and four officers all responded. The fire was put out.
Animal complaint
A caller Saturday afternoon at South Avenue B in Washington reported a black and white pitbull in her backyard that came after her dog. The pitbull did not have a collar. An officer checked the area and was not able to locate the dog.
An officer advised being out with cattle, early Sunday morning at 130th Street and Vine Avenue in Riverside, and was going to be making contact with the owner. Contact was made, and the issue was taken care of.
A caller Sunday morning at Biddle Boulevard in Washington reported a deer that appeared to be injured, in the east entrance of Waters Edge. An officer responded and was unable to locate the deer.
A caller Sunday morning at South Third Avenue in Washington reported receiving multiple reports of a guinea pig's being left outside, and requested that an officer check on the animal. An officer responded. The animal had food, shelter and shade.
A caller Sunday afternoon at Highway 218 and 130th Street in Riverside reported a loose dog walking along Highway 218. An officer responded and checked the area and was unable to locate the dog.
A caller Sunday afternoon at Highway 22 in Riverside reported that a guest had left their dog in the vehicle with the windows just cracked. An officer responded. A subject was counseled on taking proper care of their dog, and was on their way.
A caller Sunday afternoon at Joy Avenue and First Street in Richland reported that the neighbor's horses were out in the roadway. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the animals.
A caller Sunday night at South Marion Avenue in Washington reported that a white pitbull/American bulldog attacked her dog in the backyard. They were able to break up the dogs, and the pitbull had left the yard. An officer responded. The caller's dog had a minor cut above the eye. The officer was going to attempt to locate the other dog.
Burglary
A caller Sunday morning at Highway 22 in Riverside reported that a guest at the hotel had items stolen from the trunk of his vehicle in the parking lot. There were no signs of forced entry. An officer was advised for documentation.
Civil dispute
A caller Sunday afternoon at East Madison Street in Washington reported having an argument with his landlord, and requested to speak with an officer. An officer responded. It was a civil issue.
Civil standby
A caller Saturday night at East Main Street in Washington requested to see an officer about a civil standby to retrieve car keys. An officer responded and spoke with the male party and attempted to contact the female party.
A caller Sunday night at North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported that a male subject was outside and wanted a civil standby. Two officers responded. The subject retrieved some personal belongings and was advised not to return.
Curfew/loitering/vagrancy
An officer reported being out with a juvenile who was trespassing at a business, Sunday night at East Washington Street in Washington. An additional officer responded and transported the juvenile to his residence. The officer cited the juvenile for curfew and spoke to his parents.
An officer reported being out with two vehicles at the Kalona Park, early Monday morning at E Avenue in Kalona. Everything was fine.
Disorderly conduct
A caller Friday afternoon at North Fourth Avenue in Washington requested officer assistance with a student who was refusing to get on the bus or go with a guardian. An officer responded and transported the juvenile to the Washington County Hospital.

A caller early Saturday morning at Sixth Avenue in Wellman reported that he could hear his neighbors yelling. Two officers responded and spoke with the subject, who advised that they would keep the volume down for the night.
A caller Saturday night at North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported some loud subjects in the apartment next to her. Two officers responded and spoke to subjects, who advised that another subject left to start a fight at the bar. Both units responded to the business. Mark Allen Staley, 54, no current address, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and violation of a no-contact order.
A caller early Monday morning at East Third Street in Washington reported that dogs had been barking for half an hour. An officer responded. There were multiple dogs barking inside the residence, but the officer was not able to make contact with an owner. The officer was going to have the day shift attempt to make contact.
A caller early Monday morning at Fourth Street in Wellman reported that her neighbor was mowing his yard and it woke her up. An officer responded and advised the subject to mow at a more reasonable time.

A caller Sunday afternoon at West Jefferson Street in Washington reported locating a suspicious item. An officer responded. Documentation was made.
Family offense nonviolent
A caller Saturday afternoon at Washington Street in Ainsworth reported wanting a family member to leave the residence. An officer responded. The subject left before the officer arrived.
A caller Sunday morning at North Third Avenue in Washington reported a verbal dispute. Two officers responded. The incident was verbal only. Parties refused to separate. Charges are pending on the male subject for possession of controlled substance.
Hang-up 911 calls
A 911 open line was reported, Saturday afternoon at A Avenue in Kalona. An officer checked the area and was not able to locate anything.
Dispatch received three 911 hang-up calls and reached voice mail when trying to return calls, Saturday afternoon at Maple Avenue in Kalona. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate a problem. The officer also checked with the nearest address, and everything there was fine.
A 911 hang-up call was reported, Saturday night at West Eighth Street in Washington. An officer responded. Everything was fine.
Intimidation/harassment
A caller Sunday afternoon at East Main Street in Washington reported being harassed by two males. An officer spoke with the subject. This was a continuation of an ongoing situation.
Runaways/missing person
A caller Friday morning at Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported that his son ran away two minutes earlier and was walking toward the park. An officer checked several places and spoke with the father. The officer was unable to locate the son. About four hours later, the mother called to say that the youngster was at his aunt's residence and they would allow him to stay there.
A caller Friday night at South Avenue C in Washington reported that her 15-year-old son did not come home after school that day, and requested to speak with an officer. The juvenile was entered into the system.
A caller Saturday morning reported seeing a missing juvenile walking by Stewart School in Washington. An officer located the juvenile on foot at East Sixth Street and North Fourth Avenue. The juvenile's mother picked him up from that location. An officer met with the mother and the juvenile at the Police Department. The juvenile was transported by the officer to Four Oaks in Iowa City.
A caller Saturday afternoon at Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported that his son had run away from the residence. He was wearing a gray shirt and jeans and was riding his bike. An officer was advised. The juvenile called in and advised he was at McDonald's. Contact was made with his father, who went to pick him up.
A caller Sunday evening at South Avenue C in Washington reported that his son left that morning at 8 a.m. and was at an address at South Avenue C. He attempted to go there and retrieve him. An officer responded. The officer was unable to locate the subject there, and the people at the address were not familiar with him. The officer located the juvenile at the Police Department and transported him back to his residence.
Shoplifting
A caller early Monday morning at Highway 92 in Washington reported that two subjects had shoplifted. An officer responded. Video footage would be gone over on Tuesday by the store manager.
Suspicious activity
A caller Friday morning at North Second Avenue in Washington reported a suspicious male subject outside the apartment building. The caller called back in and advised that the subject left behind a gun scope. Two officers responded. The scope was off a toy gun. The officers were attempting to locate the male subject.
A caller Friday morning at Woodland Court in Washington reported that the neighbor's ex-husband just broke the glass in the door and went inside. Four officers responded. The homeowner was contacted. The subject was asked to leave and not to return.
A caller Saturday evening at South Marion Avenue in Washington reported a suspicious item found leaning up against the building. An officer took possession of the item and was going to place it in evidence.
A caller early Sunday morning at Westview Drive in Washington reported a suspicious male subject in the parking lot. Two officers responded and were unable to locate the subject.
A caller early Monday morning at East Polk Street in Washington reported a suspicious male walking around in the Emergency Room parking lot. Two officers responded. The subject was seen at the Emergency Room and then left the premises.
Vandalism
A caller Friday morning at West Monroe Street and South E Avenue in Washington reported that someone hit the speed-limit sign and left behind a part of a bumper with a partial license plate. An officer responded. The partial license plate number was provided. City Roads were contacted to fix the sign.
Welfare check
A caller Friday afternoon at East Taylor Street in Washington requested assistance with a welfare check. Two officers responded to assist the caller.
A caller Friday afternoon at Fifth Street in Kalona requested that a deputy attempt to locate a subject who came into the business asking for assistance and appeared upset. They left the area on foot. An officer responded to several locations and was unable to locate the subject. The caller was going to call back if the subject returned to the business.
A caller Saturday night at A Avenue in Kalona reported a juvenile screaming at her neighbor's house. An officer responded and spoke to the subjects. Everything was OK.
All other theft
A caller Saturday night at First Street in Kalona reported a gas drive-off of $36 at about 7:30 p.m. Johnson County located the vehicle and advised them to go back and pay for their gas.
