Police make several drug busts, no arrests made

Although no arrests were made immediately, several search warrants were executed Friday, the result of lengthy drug investigations in Mt. Pleasant.
The Mt. Pleasant Police department executed the first search warrant at a residence located at 304 E. Vernon St. in Mt. Pleasant, where they discovered marijuana, scales, baggies, U.S. currency and ammunition, according to a press release from the police department. According to the release, these items are consistent with the distribution of drugs.
As a part of the investigation, the Mt. Pleasant Police Department also executed a search warrant at a residence located at 204 E. Second St. in Mt. Pleasant, where a safe containing marijuana and U.S. currency was located, according to the release.
The second search warrant executed on Friday, police say, was executed at a residence at 707 E. Jones St.. As a result of this search warrant, marijuana, baggies and scales were located, stated the press release.
Further investigation is ongoing in the two cases and several arrests are expected, according to Lt. Lyle Murray of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
