Police respond to two, two-vehicle accidents over the weekend

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department responded to two, two-vehicle accidents over the weekend.
On Dec. 13, at approximately 6:53 p.m., the Mt. Pleasant Police Department responded to the report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of N. Grand Ave. and E. Winfield Ave. According to police reports, it was determined that a 2013 Nissan Sentra, driven by Jasmine Howell, of Riverdale, Ill., was traveling southbound and entered the intersection at approximately the same time as Elaine Hooley, of Wayland, who was driving eastbound in a 2000 Saturn LS2.
The Hooley vehicle struck the passenger side of the Howell vehicle. Damage to the Saturn was minimal, while damage to the Sentra was estimated at $2500.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was also called to the scene of another two-vehicle accident at approximately 4:11 p.m., on Dec. 14.
The accident, which took place at the intersection of S. Jefferson and W. Warren St., occurred when Jacob Schroeder, of Mt. Pleasant, who was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue, became distracted and ran into the back of a 1994 Chevy pickup truck, driven by Penny Lloyd, of West Point, according to police reports.
Schroder was injured in the crash and taken to the Henry County Health Center by ambulance. Schroder was cited for following too closely.
